If the majority of Arsenal's players think there's a big move in it for them, they're a bit deluded. RVP, maybe Vermaelen, Wilshere. The rest aren't going anywhere big too quickly.

So Scott Parker is the new England captain.

He isn't a drugs cheat, he's not been labelled a racist, he's not been shagging his team mates wife, and he's not been caught on CCTV pummelling someone in a bar.

I'd say it's an improvement, even if it is an unexpected choice.

The Wales match was hard viewing from an emotional viewpoint, brought a tear to my eye with his sons leading the side out. Not too worried about the result, forgetting the fact it was a difficult night for the players. I have always been in the camp that friendly perfromances/results are pretty irrelevant in terms of how they relate to qualifiers.

It was about what you'd expect from a Pearce team - lots of heart, lots of effort, not much organisation, and ultimately tactics that failed when the team ran out of steam after about 35 minutes.

However on the point of Xavi not knowing who Parker is, which has caused most of the moaning. I dont think its such a big stretch, Parker isnt really a big name in european football. Im sure many of the big english players dont know the best non real or barca spanish players.

I thought it was a very good performance from an inexperienced line up. Great to see the likes of Richards back in squad...

Lots of positives from tonights game. I would use that young squad and sprinkle it with some experience and start building a side for the future.

I wouldn't say no to Pearce taking us to the Euros and then look further ahead after the summer.

I thought last night was a terrific performance by England against a very good (if slightly cynical) Dutch side. Very impressed.

With such an inexperienced side, if not in terms of individuals certainly in terms of playing together, we did very well. Much happier to have seen that than a 2-0 win with nothing learnt from the same old tired faces and tactics.

Oh, and Lansbury's goal - a complete fluke, totally unintended.

One of the new faces on the bench last night - as Pearce's assistant - was ex-Aldershot Town manager Steve Wigley..... Aldershot make the big time at last.

Sadly, he's shit. ... he's one of only two Town managers who has failed to get them promoted.

yeah, I think he was at city. And if I'm remembering rightly he was at Bristol City when Pearce recruited him for England.

From the sun today "'Harry Birthday to you, Harry Birthday to you, we've had enough of Psycho, so over to you!'. Im not fan of either as managers, but I think thats incredibly disrespectful to a man who gave everything for his country despite his limitatations as a player. Its amazing (not surprising) that the london media seem offended that there should be more than 1 person considered for the national job and are demanding an Arry coronation. The way they go on you would think he has the managerial track record of jose or ancelotti, fact is he has won as much as Joe Royle despite managing for years and at lest when JR won the FA cup he played a premiership side in the final and played man u with a keeper in goal not rio ferdinand. Arrys record is nowhere near good enough to demand a coronation, although his london media arse licking record is up with the best of them.
