This is the problem with the approach they are taking, similar to city institutions where they interview loads of people and sometimes even steal the ideas of people who they interview but don't take on. Alot of managers are not going to want to be publically rejected, they need to be careful or could end up like villa last year.

Well looks like solskjaer might be getting the villa job, nice fresh appointment if it goes ahead. Better than the usual merry go round of sackings and gettign another decent job.

Could be a stepping stone for the united job in a couple of years.

I agree unfair on the clubs of the manager not getting the job aswel. England did it the best just identify there man and getting him. Liverpool will do another pr disaster and will mess martinez around and end up with souness.

He's had a go at managing the united reserves I think - in which he impressed, and he took a team that have never won the Norwegian title to success in his first season, which is impressive in anyone's book. Plus he knows the English game in and out. Fergie really rates him as a star of the future (although he would be a bit biased).

Its a big step up to managing Villa, but if he gets it right then it will be a stroke of genius on Villa's part (not a word you often associate with Villa). It'd be nice to see him get it. The couple of Villa fans I know seem to be very happy with the rumours too, which helps.

He won three trophies with the United reserves, and then took the Norweigan team (Molde?) from 16th to winning the league. It's fairly obvious Villa fans will be more patient with him, given the fact he doesn't come from City. I think as long as he finishes top half, at least top twelve, they wouldn't be too hard on him.

Speaking of Villa, Community Shield to be held at Villa Park.

It's been rejected too, he's using the need to move to a bigger club to get into the England team excuse.

At his age and only having the 1 season in the Premier League I doubt it would matter.

Im not against Soljskaer getting the villa job and its much better than the likes of curbsisley, mowbray etc. However I do feel sorry for the young british managers who are constantly see people parachuted ahead of them due to their past as a player which has no link with ability as a manager. I know Ole has done well in Norway but if he was a random norweigian joirneyman with the same achievement nobody would take notice. Im not sure what standard norwegian football is, Im guessing league 1 but thats a stab in the dark. I have never believed there are not good young british managers but I think theres a huge lack of opportuinty, if you cant get in via the championship you probably never will.

I personally like Ole and hope he does well, however Im struggling to think of an above manager that has played under Fergie at Man utd, The likes of Bruce, Hughes, Robson, Keane etc have been a bit up and down.

I honestly don't think being at a great club and winning trophies is relevant to how good someone is as a manager. Look at the top half of the premiership this year only kenny and Mancini (at a push do matteo)were great players at great clubs. Being average didn't hurt the rest.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
