Oh I have no doubt its a wild exaggeration by myself, there are many players so bad that I have completely forgotten they existed, I just have never been impressed anytime I have seen him. Plus there is something about him o just find irritating. Let's face it worse player lists are never realistic, you do one for centre backs and brambles would be high, yet there are loads of players in their late teens play a couple of games, drift down the football league and are forgotten.

Chamakh lost confidence after a bright start. He had 7 prem goals in his opening 15 league games. Complained of tiredness around winter time (no break in the prem unlike Ligue 1), and failed to score for the rest of the season, albeit used more as an impact sub . 1 in 19 appearances (4 starts, 15 sub) since following that initial contribution; a late consolation in the defeat to Blackburn this season.

Became a conscientious objector afraid to shoot. By no means the worse striker though. Eg. Dong and Manucho didn't exactly strike fear into prem defences either, but then those guys weren't 2nd choice/on reported 60k a week I guess.

Disappointment, but possibility he regains confidence enough to contribute.

Tired Marouane Chamakh has warned that he might not be ready to resume duty at Arsenal until March.

The Morocco international is struggling to cope with the demands of life in the Premier League, having moved to Emirates Stadium from Bordeaux last summer.

He made a positive start to life in England, and has 10 goals to his name this term, but admits the strain is starting to show.

Arsene Wenger has opted to rest him over recent weeks, giving him an opportunity to recharge his batteries while the in-form Robin van Persie leads the line.

Chamakh, though, believes he is still some way short of the level required to compete at the very top of the game.

"By the start of January I felt that I had completely lost my edge," said the 27-year-old striker.

"It was there for all to see. I am only human, so I've been given some rest. Besides, Arsenal have been able to profit from Robin van Persie's form.

"He's walking on water right now - everything he tries comes off.

"It is a blessing in disguise, as the team is doing well and I'm able to get some rest. I hope to play again soon, but it could be in March rather than February.

"But it is not serious. I am here to learn, both in training and matches, and also to improve my game and to acclimatise to London and English football.

"God willing, it will not take too long to happen for me.

"I am fully aware of my new status as a substitute since Van Persie's return to the side. Besides, Nicklas Bendtner is a sub as well. But it is all about what the players do out on the pitch. I am not worried."

I think Chamakh is a very good player. He certainly started his Arsenal career very well.

Just seemed to go off the boil and drop out of the team at the same time all the allegations started.

Re Liverpool and Cavani. Agree with PT, they'd be hard pushed to get him due to competition, but I'd be hesitant whether they could afford another additional £30m player too in terms of FFP, short of getting CL football again or Henry negotiating some monster commercial deals. They're running at CL level expenditure (salary/amortisation) already, plus lost revenue with no Europe at all this year (gate receipts/media). Big outlay in the summer (pushing amortisation level up further). Without taking a hit on Carroll to clear his amortisation off the books, I can't really see them hitting that kind of outlay on one player, though I could be off. Hard to tell until their 2010/11 financial reports are out.

what you've missed from your breakdown is how the goals were actually scored.

Many of them have been gifted to those strikers (goals against Liverpool, for example), rather than being goals that the strikers carved out for themselves. That luck with gifts isn't likely to hold up all season.

You might disagree that they've been mostly gifts, but several Spurs fans I know agree, and have similar worries over where Spurs goals will come from over a full season (because the other players aren't likely to keep on making up the difference).

This poppy thing is really starting to get on my nerves, if england players want to wear poppies with their suits on the way to the game then theres no problem. As someone said on the radio England playes sweden on novemeber 10th 2001 without poppies on shirts and there was no debate. Football clubs have played for years on november 11th and again no debate. Im not sure if this is an example of poppy facism or just an excuse to get at fifa.

Its a bit silly yeah. If FIFA allow this now it opens up other countries doing similar things. Argentina vs England with Argie having a Falklands badge, England vs Germany, South Korea vs North Korea, USA vs Vietnam, Iran vs Iraq, Israel vs any other middle eastern country etc.

And football fans are hardly known for their compassion and understanding.

As we got Chamakh on a free I don't think he was that terrible a signing. That said there's more chace of Christopher Wreh scoring than him at the moment

Could be, but if his team-mates call him it, then it suggests he doesn't object to the term, and is having a go because he was pissed off with Suarez running rings round him.
