2013 Headliners

Kasabian didn't exactly set the world on fire subbing bruce denimskin in '09.

Arctic monkeys were one of the poorest headliners (for me) of recent years, up there with the killers for a waste of a headline slot in a year where there was obviously a bit of a drought for bookings.

If they make that sort of step-up it would be horrendous. Can see them subbing though, aren't they on arena tours now?

As for Arctic Monkeys, I feel obliged to defend them. Having seen them so many times over the years I can see why 'casual fans' or those going to see them out of interest would find them bland back in the day. However since around 2010 they've really stepped their live game up and put on a really good show. Their latest album was a step back in the right direction for those who dismissed them after their third, too.

Anyway, it's all about opinions isn't it, I love them but no harm in others disliking them.

Have to agree with this. The Arctics headlined last time on the back of their first album. They have a much bigger back catalogue to draw on now, and have grown up a bit and are much better live. They are an act I am really hoping to see in the bill somewhere, though having started by headlining the Pyramid, there is nowhere else to go - so Pyramid headliner it is I guess! If no-one else wants to see them i might try to get down the front!

Glasto is very proud of it's record of giving bands their first shot at headlining, such as KOL and Coldplay, often (imo) a touch early. This makes giving M&S a go very likely, particularly given recent album sales. It's not actually a huge step up from what they've been doing recently, anyway (ran their own fests this summer).

I'd much prefer them to Gaga, anyway.

I would personally rather have Gaga (at least you get an entertaining show from her). I just can't see Mumford & Sons headlining, especially when you consider the number of bigger bands that are possibilities for this year.

One of the key points here is that we have no idea who is a "possibility" because Glasto doesn't pay like other festivals so people have to want to do it. If you're assuming that everyone suggested on here is a possibility then it seems unlikely; if you're looking at past bookings it looks distinctly possible. Don't get me wrong, there's loads of acts I'd rather have but it just all seems to fit the aglasto model. Particularly if they've got The Stones.
