2013 Headliners

Just listened to popmaster on radio 2, one of the contestants was asked about going to Glastonbury. He said he was going and said prince was headlining and said he was very excited to see him.

Obviously he has just read/heard this somewhere but it just made me laugh how many rumours there are and how far they can reach. Also how little anybody knows this year about this 3rd headliner.

As much as we all want to know the headliners you have to admit it builds excitement and gets so many people talking.

Having said that im desperate to know the line up NOW!!

Yes it was fun waiting about a year and a half when speculation was wild.

But now no one on this forum cares that much anymore, the forum goes through stages of being very boring and I just wanna know now. It's lost it's fun.

I'm quite happy waiting, the only thing that's got me thinking is the fact that we normally have one night where we see no headliners (the last two times it's been the Saturday) and we head to Shangri La early so we can have a look around and sit in the bars before they get busy, with the speculation about headliners I'm beginning to wonder if there'll be a night where they'll be no headliner I want to see.

I have to agree that waiting has got boring now, I need some confirmations to get my teeth into! The endless repetitive discussions about who is going to play, where we just keep on saying the same thing for pages at a time, is dull as dish water

Just thinking out loud about the whole mumford and stones situation. If mumford are the back up to the stones and are subbing them in case they pull out then they can't be headlining the sunday. But if they are headlining the sunday and the stones pull out who would headline the saturday and we're back to only having two headliners.

Or is it the case that mumford are booked but there position is not yet known depending on if the stones sign and who eavis can get for the sunday.

At the moment they could play saturday sub, saturday headline or sunday headline

it's been Neil's best guess that Mumfords were/are subbing to the Stones and their backup, but nothing on that is concrete at all. they're more than likely playing though, i'd have thought. their positioning is all still speculation. i personally think that they're the third headliner

it's very possible that there's a totally different act subbing the Stones who were being readied to step up. Mumfords definitely seems like the most likely act, but they also seem like the most likely third headliner (imo). guess we'll just have to wait and see

Reckon you're right, don't care though, I'll just put my foot down and see the Pumpkins (who in my mind are TBC for Other headliner Sunday for no other good reason than they fucking should be).

Robyn Hitchcock is confirmed to play, I'm just waiting for Chic to confirm and after that I could care less about anything else.

Maybe if Prince headlines I will be chuffed to pieces about that, but, that is about as likely as me performing naked on The Pyramid stage and doing the can-can.

I don't know anyone, and suspect I never will, who would want to see The Stones and Mumfords

I really really dont want to stand through the Mumfords to get to theStones.

I would much rather have a proper bouncy sub that gets you going, someone like dizzee rascal. Not someone I would stick on at home but gets the whole crowd bouncing beforehand.

They could probably get the crowd moving if Mumfords subbed, by having a really strong Other headliner on the same day. No idea who that would be though.

Look as much as you hate them, i've never seen someone ever come back from a mumford gig saying they didn't "give it their all" and that their "shit live".

Maybe they are one of those bands who on record are pretty dull, but in a good setting like a concert, really connect with the crowd, for example... this definitely looks like a bouncy performance to me.

Mumfords would go down a storm, i'm sure, as they did at the last two festivals. if you do feel the need to wait that long for the Stones (should that situation come to pass), and you're not drunk enough to at least tolerate Mumfords, then you're just doing it wrong, imo.
