there lies the conundrum.

Jack White would, i'm sure, put on a great show. he could headline the Pyramid stage. but as we tie ourselves up with arbitrary measures of size, he just doesn't seem to fit, despite having a larger band, back catalogue and much more experience than a decade ago when he did headline the Pyramid.

what's in a name, eh?

It was, but I wouldn't bet against it either. They might have to sell a certain amount of tickets for their own mini festival or something like that. And i imagine they'll have a bit more about it than just, they're booked, there we go kinda thing.

Lesson one, believe nothing Eavis' say. They said Pulp weren't playing and R&L can have them.

Where is the horse and the rider? Where is the horn that was blowing?

They have passed like rain on the mountain, like wind in the meadow.

The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.

How did it come to this?

Mumford and Sons were appropriately placed on smaller stages. This was when it worked well and I could make some sense of the concept of their music. BUT. Since they've become international superstars and headliners of major festivals, it has been one big nightmare!!

They belong here>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.villagepumpfolkfestival.co.uk/index.htm

Who is bigger right at this very moment in time? They're the biggest selling British act, and one of the biggest selling acts in America for years, they sell out arenas not just in UK, USA but all over the world, they've just won Grammy for best record, etc. etc. Not many acts right now who could compete with them.

Coldplay aren't around right now are they? That's why it was emphasised right now. You can go on if you want, but I'd be very surprised if you could find an act bigger than them worldwide, right now.

The point about winning a Grammy is showing how big they are. It wasn't just some Best Edited Performance Of Country Music On A Cruise Ship Grammy either, it was the most prestigious.

Weirdly enough, while writing that,'ve just come across an article called "how did mumford get to be the biggest band in the world?"

From Pink Floyd...to Kasabian

From Led Zeppelin...to the Foo Fighters

From the Beatles...to Blur

From the Who to the Artic Monkeys

From the Rolling Stones to the Kings of Leon

From Bowie to Jarvis

From Talking Heads to the Foals

ELP, ELO, Yes, Grateful Dead, Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, Marley, Presley, Prince, Dylan, Springsteen. Nowadays, who's got the potential to make it on to that list. Mumford & Sons ?

We used to have loads of fantastic live bands, in their prime, playing rock n roll, blues, pop, heavy metal, reggae, ska, art school, jazz, soul, folk, disco, krautrock, pub-rock, glamrock, country-rock, punk ...........and then it stopped.

Glastonbury will always have the Pyramid Stage, but they might have to build a smaller one in future.

Ok. Adele. Already mentioned, but I'll restate that. As a mark of how incredulously out of touch the Grammys are, Babel winning best album? Seriously? Even M*mford fans know that's shit. If you're saying that Mumford are a bigger live act, that's only because Adele doesn't really tour. If you're looking for a bigger British live act, that's released a current album, that have been recognised by the Grammys this year: Paul McCartney.

I'm not denying they're weirdly popular, but my point was that there's no way they're the biggest band in the world. I proved that with Adele and McCartney and that's just on the British side. I'll toss One Direction in there as well to get the c**ts off the podium. Then we have a long list of international acts who dick on them populartity wise as well. Hopefully they'll throw out an even shitter third album and disappear for good.
