2013 Headliners

nope, it means that Glastonbury's rep would be damaged by sub-standard headliners, which would impact onto future fests.

And when I say "future fests" I'm not meaning just Glastonbury. If Glasto's rep gets damaged then that inflicts damage onto all of the UK festival sector.

So, presumably Eavis is playing this angle amongst the other promoters of UK festivals, like Melvin and Vince, and they're fronting some of the money it takes to book the Stones and Prince, then? If it really will be damaging to the UK festival scene as a whole it would be negligent of the other promoters not to help.

I very much doubt that they are, but you never know.

I'd be surprised if Melvin thought that the destruction of Glastonbury would be a good thing long-term for Reading/Leeds and his other festivals, but perhaps I'm mis-judging him.

But whatever he thinks, I'd guess that currently he's not feeling benevolent towards Glastonbury, for more than just his work there having come to an end.

Vince I think has locked his remaining cash into his pocket, and nothing is going to prise it from him - and certainly not any festivals, not even the ones he used to own.

If they're short a Sunday headliner then just make sure they book a genuine 'legend' for that legend slot and have him in reserve to step up.

Leonard Cohen, Paul Simon, Johnny Cash - that calibre - and let them showcase their talents in a full length set. In many ways I'd prefer that to GaGa, Mumford and Sons. Dizzee Rascal etc.

personally I think it will be mumford & sons

seeing how they are pretty much ruled out of R&L would be surprised if they did only one UK fest appearance this year.

They will most likely play oxygen, (if it comes back).

I just think it's strange seeing as T haven't booked them as exclusive, thought they'd be the first on the booking list for many festivals.

Just watching the end of The Pixies Acoustic on Sky Arts 1. It would make an outstanding headline set. Remarkable how well both the playing and singing hold up without the effects and noise - truly great band with truly great songs.

    • Yep.   The fact that the festival felt the need to fudge the name like that suggests that they see it as a way to showcase solo legends, and on that basis INABS holds true - until it doesn't for whatever reason.
    • Would love to have Marina Herlop for the Auditori (new albun out soon, local act, played both weekends in 2022)
    • I do agree to a point and I will just not buy tickets for some things now cos I know there’s a good chance I’ll get some cheap.   also think the quality of a lot of the artists around is just quite poor at the moment, either touring albums from 20 years ago or poorly received  albums    then also this trend of doing 7 shows at one location, people are tired of travelling and there’ll always be spares close to the time
