If Arcade Fire played they'd headline Other I think. Just like The Strokes who'd also be a very strong Other stage headliner. Not sure if we'd see them both as they are both indie rock bands. Both headlined Reading and could be possible Pyramid subbers as well as Other headliners. I just think that with all the 2013 demand Glasto need pretty strong headliners , not saying that Arcade Fire or The Strokes are not good but you can get stronger more well known headliners

Arcade Fire are definitely out-and-out headliners now. Turned in great headline performances at Coachella and Bonnaroo last year and R&L in 2010. They've well and truly proven themselves as a headline-worthy band over the last 2 years and with another album due out next year, there is no way they'd do anything but headline the Pyramid if they were to play.

I'm not so sure. I'm not saying they *shouldn't* headline, they're of sufficient quality (even though thy're not really my bag), but I don't think they have that widespread 'everyone knows who they are, even my Gran' quality that the headliners recently have had and that the bookers are probably looking for.

My Bloody Valentine announced Japanese tour dates this morning for 2013 which seem to suggest they'll be playing various live gigs next year. Anyone think they could play Glastonbury and if so, which stage/position? It's probably a very unlikely booking for Glasto to make but I can't help but think how amazing it would be.

Someone said somehting about Kate Bush earlier i think that would be pretty amazing just to hear Running up that Hill and Wuthering Heights! That would be something else. Personally i would like to see someone like Metallica headline i know it gets said all the time but i think they are due a chance to do it now being as big as they are. With Lars recently saying aswell that they would love to play Glastonbury i think the chances are better than ever. Personally but i can't see like a very "special" person being announced to headline i reckon it will be average headliners and The Stone Roses.

Just listened to Valtari the new album by Sigur Ros, in a special one hour preview they did, got me thinking that they should definitely play next year and maybe as a sub to Radiohead or Arcade Fire, if they did it would be a surreal 3 hours of music!

I reckon for headliners

Pulp/Stone Roses

Radiohead

Florence and the Machine

As bleurhgh as i would find the last one personally.

Mumford and Sons will sub as well.

Second stage headliners:

Basement Jaxx/Other big dance act

Jack White

Jessie J/Example

Jessie J or Example headlining the other stage *shudder*

If I can get a ticket, I'd absolutely love if Sigur Ros got announced. I was listening to their new album during that valtari hour too and it's pretty intense. It's just a matter of where they'd play, really. They're subbing at Bestival, not sure if that makes a difference. They could play anywhere, really.

    • The Radio Dept.?! That's a surprise to me, they haven't toured in like 8 years. Hopefully they will announce some more shows.
    • I was assuming September in Stirling might have a different issue tbf in the form of it just pissing it down.
    • Yeah so many of mine seem to be just France v Spain in one semi and England/Brazil v Argentina in the other. But the fact those combos are the obvious ones mean it feels unlikely that'll happen because in World Cup history, you very rarely end up with what pre-tournament looks like the obvious final 4. We all see teams outperform and underperform. Which one is the fall guy is a different matter.   I've said elsewhere that for me, there's a hierarchy of Spain, France and Argentina as the 3 strongest looking, then England and Portugal, then Brazil and Germany, but that overall, they'd be the 7 likeliest to win. So I dunno, maybe this will be the time the Netherlands avenge the failure of total football in 1974 and achieve what they couldn't achieve through whatever the f**k Nigel de Jong was with his 2010 final karate moves.
    • Oh I think Infantino should resign. His handling of the whole WC process has been an utter shitshow. But you know. That would require him having integrity or something.
    • Good Charlotte would be fine third down or subbing. If they can get a bigger sub and still get GC, they’ll play third down.
