I really hate the ticket system

Aye hopefully they go back to pay it off before a date in 2013, makes much more sense.

The register system works really good I think, it prevents the touts for sure and yeah its bit annoying but anyone whose getting through and got tickets can't really complain about it as without it could easily mean you wouldn't have got your ticket!

I think the problem was that once you got through and ordered tickets you could use the back button to get to the beginning and then order tickets again, effectively bypassing the main que?

Everyone who got tickets had to be registered already and were already trying that same day.

People always going to lose out, when demand is greater than supply, so it's just one of those things.

Ah right, I'm with you - I thought he meant people were selling their link to the booking page for cash monies. Am having a stupid day.

To be honest, I see no problem with people helping each other get tickets but that's a discussion for another thread. ;)

As for the photo registration, I agree that it should be used in other events and was impressed that the RATM gig in Finsbury Park last summer took it on.

i have to agree with the original poster about not being able to transfer tickets over. that is one element of the ticketing system i think it stupid. everything else about it is great, but if theres a big group of you going and 1 cant go anyone and you have someone to take their place, a quick phonecall and a change of name and picture wouldnt take that long, surely? i'm in the same situation so maybe i see it differently to people who already have all their ticket deposited and confirmed for all their whole group

You are a sad bitter individual ain't ya

Nothing was touted, friends helped other friends get tickets in true community spirit for no financial or personal gain.

And despite your twisted words, I would still offer to help you get your ticket too.. after all I had the booking page up just a couple of weeks ago when International ticket balances needed paid while messing about with stuff.. depending on when the resale date is though in April

i think the Glastonbury ticketing system is brilliant, i wish all fests etc. used this system.

You get from October to April to save for the full ticket having only to pay a deposit, and the touts cant get their grubby hands on em! - the only minor drawback is that you cant give your ticket to someone else but i really do think its a small price to pay! :D

I wonder whether perhaps this years ticket situation seems to sit somewhat uncomfortably with yourself since you seem to be able to sniff out any comment I post about its lack of fairness with the precision of a military spy.

I thought that the issue with the payment window rather than the pay by a date thing was to do with them wanting the payments to be in the next tax year.

They therefore didn't want to collect any payments until after April 1st. To make sure that tickets are paid off in time to process them and have a resale the only viable option really is collect payments by a week into April thus by creating a week window during which people can log on and pay.

Personally I think its a great system. I have had 6 months to save up and I have a guarenteed ticket.

Robith sums it up exactly, I think. Transfers would allow touts to block buy tickets (I'm sure exploiting any loophole they can) and then sell transfers at whatever cost they wish.

I am 100% behind the festival's anti-touting policies and would personally prefer if they were restricted further by limiting a booking to 4 tickets.

Glastonbury have led the field in anti-touting, evolving their setup each year in much the same way as they evolve the festival to overcome challenges they experience each year. I expect the system to improve as time goes by.

I have no problem at all with this year's arrangement, I have had all year to focus on 3 dates: Deposit day, first week in April to have the balance in the bank for and gates open. I'm a single dad, working part time and earning less than 10k, I have saved and prepared all year and having a whole week to pay the balance means no stressing over servers that are rammed and pages that don't load. I don't believe that a 'savings scheme' is really the responsibility of the festival and they have done enough to ensure that those on low incomes don't lose out to those with daddy's credit card.

This very, very much.

Glasto shows that you can be a huge festival with the huge names without becoming another big gig in a field, I've heard stories of V only allowing Virgin brand cola to be sold at the stalls, bacon rolls with two rashers of bacon for a fiver and all the others, having gone to T in the Park up until 2007 where the line-up became too NME orientated and the tickets too expensive for me, it's refreshing to be at a festival where if you miss out on a ticket, it's sheer bad luck.

The whole lack of the arena/campsite layout, the fact that there are cash bars with a decent variety, the sheer amount of entertainment and an eclectic portfolio of entertainment, such a great amount of friendly people, there's no other big festival quite like it.

I know that things in life are often put in some sort of good or evil scenario, but whatever side Michael and Emily Eavis are on, I want to be on the same side too. For being such an amazing festival, the money and awareness it raises for charities properly rebuilds my usually shattered faith in humanity come the end of June for the last couple of years.

Having said that, what? No f**king Radiohead? Sort it out Eavis!

I'd say to do the same as we're doing.

If the whole group wants that person to go have all 7/8 or whatever people on the go on resale day with the ticket number handy and his payment details the odds are probably in favour that one of you should be able to get through.

The system has drawbacks but is the only fair way IMO. Introduce a transfer option and touts will exploit it.

And for those belly aching about having to settle the full balance in April I say grow up. You've had 9 months since the last festival, 6 months since ticket day. If you can't put some by in that time then you need to look at yourself.

I think it's cracking. However, i think the system setup in 2010 was far better, with the october tix, having the option of paying it all off in one go, then having a whole month in feb for those who cannot.

However, i love it 99.9% of touts are cleared from doing it!

    • But I think the point of that Dan Needle tax thing...we need to put up income tax, for all incomes (and thresholds should be unfrozen).
    • There are no easy answers...more than anything we need growth...and probably main ways of getting that is borrowing more to invest in stuff that makes us super sexy, and/or cut taxes on business and wealth generation which would mean less money to spend on public services and welfare and would obviously be super unpopular and get you chucked out of govt. On top of all that got an aging population, a growing welfare bill, a call for higher spending on defence, housing inequality, higher borrowing costs, and probably a load more sh*t on the way due to the Iran war (although so far it hasn't been that bad?)
    • A couple of OR's crew and band have posted Barcelona pics.   HYYPPPEEEEE
    • That's what I was thinking, but with GC ticket sales looking good atm, I cant imagine download would pull off a blink, avril, GC top 3... when has this forum ever pulled off a prediction like that anyway, it won't happen will it 😂
    • I’m gonna go crazy and hope it’s Nine Inch Noize. I’d die.
