That's why there's a variety of festivals; if Snow Patrol, Nicki Minaj, Jesse J, Tinie Tempah, Professor Green and Olly Murs are more your cup of tea then go to T.

The fact is, this years line-up is weak. Not just compared to other festivals but also compared to other years of this festival. Its ok saying new bands need to be moved up to keep it fresh but they have done it all in one year and the bands they have moved up aren't even new, they're bands that have all played in the last couple of years bar a select few.

They seem to have kept the regular bands and just fucked them about as if that will keep people from realising. The placements look as if the person who's done it have absolutely no idea what should go where. Looks lazy.

I've still got faith the Fr and NME undercard will fill my weekend though.

I'm not convinced. Great band on record but not great live for me. Very pedestrian performers and I can't see them appealing to casual/new fans on the strength of their live performances.

Name me a uk festival that its weaker than? Maybe download but thats arguable! Uk fests are just not getting the great lineups now, probably down to the price bands are asking.

Im unsure what you mean by weak to other years, placements are a bit weird agreed but you have an arena band playing 4th down. Wouldnt class that as weak, again alot of the normal reading and leeds crowd wouldnt have any interest in seeing the likes of rancid/nofx/sum 41 etc etc.

Download and Isle of Wight without a doubt. Maybe I'm wrong to expect better than this from a Reading line up? I don't think it has anything to do with age either. Yes I like bands from when I was a kid, but I also like bands from every year since and don't judge on the length of time a band has been around. We may have arena band playing fourth but we also have three academy sized bands playing third, yet another example of the mess they've made this year.

This line up is weak because it is literally a muddle of bands who have in the main all played in the last three years.

Maybe my hopes were raised by a decent set of rumoured headliners (even though I'm not a fan of kasabian) but the undercard is weak,lazy and to be quite frank, marginalising. And yes, the orders a fucking mess.

Also, I don't get your comment on the bands you mention at the end.

I'm not into a lot of the music Download gets but it's easily the strongest line-up out of the major UK fests this year.

O2 Wireless is shocking though. Absolutely appalling. This is a festival that used to book bands like The Strokes, New Order, The Who, Super Furry Animals, The Flaming Lips, Eels, Morrissey and Beck. Is there any act playing there this year that doesn't use auto-tune?
