Whilst I love this forum, its died a lot lately, and only picks up at certain times of the year, the fee of £30 a year is quite honestly, far too much, for me anyway. Espescially if I could carry on as I am for free.

All of the features in the OP, I wouldn't want, I have hardly ANY dispossiable income anymore, and when the festivals all have official forums now [The Download one is brilliant] Im not sure how much Id miss efests, not enough to have to pay that ammount, sorry Neil, I would love to help but wouldn't be in a position to

I have taken some time over this reply.

The email is a good idea but I have tried to do the same with the system involved at the moment but the links do not work. I have emailed webmaster and no reply..

Clique: do we need one (or another)?. Will this be displayed in our profile? I certainly don't want it, but at the moment you may get a few takers on your subs, but you will need to advertise to get more. I don't want it on the forum that I pay, as that is f**k all to do with the opinion of the stupid student that has only posted once. Also stupid people could pay and then expect all their posts are taken seriously. Grave concerns over a seperate forum as well. (I will talk to you privately about my thoughts on cliqueyness)

Risk: Neil lets be honest you are shit at customer relations. I don't care of the right and wrongs but the computer virus a few months ago via here was hard work. Once money and services have changed hands things change. People are shareholders (not in the Stock sense). You become accountable. Withdrawal of money will affect how you provide the service in general.

This could be an opportunity to get more people involved in the reviewing and photo side of things as well. Even give the chance to shadow people at some festivals?? If you see what I mean? I have no idea.

End ex the people that wish to contribute will. Maybe even have a grr raise money drive at the end of the year.

But once people see money changing hands they will want transparency.

I don't care what the cash is spent on as I have the opportunity to meet awesome people. They may be all w*nkers but I had the chance ;) But people will want to know.

I've had your email, and apologies for not replying as yet, but as it was over something that you've taken months deciding about I concluded it wasn't urgent, and so decided to put it to the side while I considered this paid membership idea which would be a replacement for the current email address offering.

Personally, no. Don't use these forums so much any more since lots of the characters who made it interesting have disappeared, and any interesting conversations seem to get slammed down by the almighty.

Not interested in an efests email, why pay when you can have yahoo/gmail/hotmail for free? If I was going to pay I'd get a personalised address myself.

Paid members forum - wouldn't offer anything more than we currently get for free, and is available for free elsewhere.

eBay style auctions? I think there's a site that already does that. Called eBay. There's also one or two ethical ticket trading sites which are, you guessed it... free.

competitions? sounds lovely, but certainly not going to entice me to pay £30 a year.

These days with so many free social networking sites and forums, plus the fact everyone has a lot less spare cash lying around Id say a paid forum would be a disaster and would have a fraction of the users this site currently has. Half if you're very lucky. Unless it can offer something truly ground breaking. Bi-monthly chatroom convos with Eavis and other festy/gig organisers, perhaps that would entice me.

If you were to open a paid version I'd definitely keep the free one open. Pack it with ads if you have to, I don't mind about that and if I have a problem with them, its my choice to put up with it, leave or pay.

why not have a nag banner at the top of the website with a thermometer in a Wikipedia stylee - have a monthly target that you wish to reach.

Each time the taget is reached have a prize draw weighted in favour of those who have given more.

make it easy to accept micropayments so people can donate £1 if they wanted, it all helps

:)
