Happened once before 15 years ago (and possibly other times before that). I have a feeling there is a reason/issue why they wont ever be playing again though. A fallout of some sort.

They played in 1990 and 1995 - I think it was 1990 when there was a huge lightning storm which was hovering over the backstage area when they played - cracking show which merged in well with the storm.

ain't a hope in hell. Last time they publicly suggested that they might like to play, a very public rebuff came back, along the lines of "when have The Cure ever put in a decent performance at Glastonbury?" - and that's the truth of things too.

To be fair, I think 16 years is probably a reasonable length of time to bury a hatchet.

the comments back at The Cure are far more recent than 16 years - I forget when they're from exactly, but it's defo from within the last decade, and I'd guess at being from around 2004.

The album has the same song on but without Smith singing (and I don't think the keyboard riff is quite so severe either). I.e, yes but it's not as good.

FYI: the new a;bum's on Spotify. I like their stuff and am going to see them on the NME tour, but am still not sure it's something I'd really want to sit around and listen to at home!

Thats what i thought about their first album. The new one seems to have a bit more to it than the first did. But i agree... not something to sit down at home to.

It won't happen, as much as I would like it to. Not headlining Glastonbury anyways.

The only way it could ever happen is if they have a sudden resurgence and that happened 2004-2009.

Reading/Leeds is far more likely these days as they haven't played there since 1979 when they played about 4th down.

They are now on a long hiatus unfortunatly.

Okky: Next time you see Porl, ask him WTF is going on and if he still 'in the band' or not? Or tell him to tell Robert to tell the fans something at least.
