Yeah but 2manydjs headlined dance east a couple of years ago didn't they (08?) so i don't think they'd suddenly jump to the other stage

Ah well, that is a shame if true. I suspect it is coming for Rob Da Bank as he would be in the know. This is the problem with this mass speculation on here, I get my hopes up too much. Ah well I'm sure the Chemical Brothers, Prince, Radiohead and the Stones are nailed on so no complaints here ;)

He's probably tried to book them for Bestival, and been told this by their management/agents.. shame as Neil seemed certain they were playing Rockness this year too

I'm trying to find out more about what I've heard, but not having much luck at the mo.

Rob da Bank is likely to be right with what he's posted I guess, but there's certainly plenty going around that suggests he might not be.

I sincerely hope Rob is wrong but, when you think about the logistics of it all, there does seem to be a lot of factors pointing to it being the truth.

Tron doesn't open until 17th December and they will no doubt be involved in some of the promotion for that. They may feel that this will not give them enough time to put everything together for a summer tour. In 2007 they set the bar with the 'pyramid' and, being the perfectionists that they are, I doubt they'd wheel it out again or settle for something that's not as good just to play live next summer. Everyone will be expecting something mindblowingly spectacular when they do return, and they will no doubt take their time to make sure whatever they come up with meets those high expectations.

I've just read an article all about their involvement in the film in Mixmag and they're stressing that the music they've made is a soundtrack and not an album in the traditional sense. In that respect, it's not as if they will have a new album to play/promote, although the article does say a few of the tracks will easily do damage on the dancefloor as they are. Obviously there's no rule that says a band has to have a new album out to play live but DP don't tour just for the sake of it.

I suppose time will tell but I'm not holding out much hope for next summer. Roll on 2012...... :D

I just find it odd that they made an official release saying there would be a tour in 2010/2011,

There's also this from the head of CAA who represent Daft Punk

the film soundtrack and tour will lead a dance music juggernaut worldwide. This is going to be the biggest tour of next year.

He's deleted those two tweets..still show on his facebook feed though

just as well that I didn't put full belief behind his words then ... there is good reason to believe they're doing Wireless at least (something I hadn't changed my mind on despite what Rob had posted), and stuff indicates that it won't be the only one despite what Rob seems to be implying.

    • I am very possibly wrong about this but I do think that the pitch you get allocated appears to be related to your time of arrival, (i.e. you get the next one available) rather than the price you paid for a small, medium or large pitch.  They all appear to be the same size to me.

    • Liddle: "Drop a small nuclear bomb on Glastonbury to immediately remove from our country almost everybody who is hugely annoying.”   Farage: Free speech!    Polanski: accepts a collaboration on 20 innocuous looking set of photos on instagram but doesn't notice that one that says 'making plans for Nigel' with a guillotine image.   Farage: I expect the MET police to arrest him.
    • I take my lad to the local non-league club - Royston Town - not he's 13, he goes there with his mates and he plays in their youth team.  Not many people there - lucky if they hit 800, but lovely supporting the town team.  I've took him to some league clubs too - Cambridge and Stevenage are great to visit and not crazy prices - his first one was Cambridge v Sunderland (I'm a mackem) when they were in league 1, so a great experience for him.  The England matches aren't too bad value either at Wembley - it's just the parking that stings you. Problem is, he's a City fan, so at some point have to bite the bullet and get him up to the Ethiad. Have done the tour, but he'd love a proper game....my wallet, less so!
    • Said it before, but if Annie Lennox is available next year, then it would be an absolute crime to instead book anyone else. She's rare and legendary enough that you drop all other plans.
