I love Docs. Which is annoying for me, because I abhor brand worship.

But I look at other boots that have the same general look and feel, and no doubt all the same features, and think "nah, I want Docs".

As you ask - yes, it would. IMO. But I'm an unreconstructed hippy from the old school who thinks that festivals are where you meet up with like minded people. Whatever the weather. Now most of us have been priced out of Glastonbury it has turned into a corporate shindig with so many ever-expanding areas ring-fenced for hospitality that mere mortals can barely move around the site.

So a challenging year weatherwise? Yes! Bring it on! Might mean less competition for tix in 2013.

PS - I wasn't priced out. I took a considered decision to be elsewhere next weekend

For those of us who don't have, or aren't risking taking, snazzy smartphones.

Is...

1) the weather forecast put up anywhere on site while the festival is ongoing, in the information booths or whatever

2) there anywhere we can get online to get an update

...so that we can continue our weather obsession on a day to day basis while we're there?

Thanks

Dave

Save the "its not as good as it used to be" " its too expensive" "its sold out" "you're not a real festival goer unless you wear these shoes*" for another thread this one is about the weather, and so far its looking good (just) ;-)

*I'm wearing flip flops :-)

priced out? £195 for Tuesday to Monday of entertainment, fun and some of the biggest music acts in the world. A snip I would say

while it's of course good value in some terms, it's very poor value when put against the price of the Festival arounbd 20 years ago - back then a ticket cost less than a week's dole money. Nowadays it costs more than a week's take home pay of many employed people.

So can someone tell me - how much rain has fallen on sight today..?

I've checked teh webcam, and seems to have been cloudy but dry today, maybe light bit of drizzle...

If this is the case and have we missed the worst of th epredicted rain>

I thought Monday was supposed to be the worst..?

The Heavens have just opened. Seriously large quantities of wet stuff is now falling on Glastonbury [town]. My usual view of the Somerset levels and Brent Knoll has now been obscured by raincloud. As I type the rain is getting heavier so I'm off to check that windows and doors are closed. Damn! It's raining on my keyboard! Despite my previous message wishing a challenging year I really don't want this! I have kids going on site in a couple of days and muggins here will be clearing up the aftermath. Plus they paid the best part of £200 each so I'd kinda like them to have a good time!

Unfair comment from me? Fair comment from you. But I don't have a boss. I am in no way formally connected to Festivals. I'm just a grumpy old bat who lives in Glastonbury and gets depressed at some of the folk she stumbles across at what she unreasonably sees as 'her' festival. Apologies to anyone I've offended. I'll make a note to not venture out of the hippy-dippy greenfields areas in 2013

    • It’s probably fairly easy to stay in a hotel but I much prefer the camping set up. It was pretty quiet where we camped but a longer walk to the arena but the weather was nice so not a problem. There’s also a lake you can camp by. Once we got off the tube/train we walked down the main road and turned right (festival site is left) and camped down there.    Do you think? They do have water points inside the arena & where I camped there were toilets, showers & water points super close. I think if you time it right the RiP stage is so easy to get close to the front. Second stage is decent & a like the indoor arena for bands on the 3rd stage. I think all the stages sound better than Downloads too, always had issues with the 2nd stage at Download being too quiet. Even main at some points.
    • Interesting that they’ve mentioned Blink-182 in mail. Btw dates for 2027 are 10-12 June. Same dates as Mystic & Sweden Rock and most likely Download, RFP & Greenfield.
