Im in Milan at the moment.....what a night last night. Watched the Football with a bunch of AC fans and the whole city went mental when they won the league. Was up till 4am partying with the locals. People driving down the roads hanging out of windows and car boots. Trucks with people riding the back lighting flares.....was great fun to see.

i'd prefer blackpool to stay up, but reckon wolves will get a bit of momentum now, and may even be able to stay up without winning another game.

Wigan have West Ham and Stoke left. They've a big chance too.

even if those weren't their games I'd say that Wigan have the best chance of those four teams to stay up. They're one of those teams who always somehow seem to just about get the required results.

Mind you, I don't think the relegation places are just between those four teams - there's still others who could be dragged into it.

Birmingham go to Spurs on the last day too - so need a win at home to Fulham (My team ) to really be 'safe' on the last day. Fulham have a pretty good habit at getting draws away from home too (Only WBA have beat us at home, out of every team below Everton...) so I'd say Birmingham have a pretty difficult fixture there :/.

I can easily see 5 teams fighting out 2 spots on the last day - with West Ham already down. I don't think a win over Bolton will be enough for Blackpool - so I'd prob say Blackpool and Wigan to go down. I reckon Wigan will draw their last two which just won't be enough... if they get a win though... Blackburn or Birmingham are surely going to end up in one of the spots (As I think Wolves will be fine).

i know it's mathematically possible, but i don't see anyone else being dragged into the shit. that would need 2 or 3 teams to really pick up form and i don't see it.

As for liverpool, I am not as convinced as most that they will be in the mix next year. People talk about the gerrard effect but he hasnt been amnogst the top premiership players for 2 consecutive seasons. My suspicion is that he peaked as a footballer 2 years ago, time will tell.

The last few months has shown that Liverpool have a life without Gerrard, so I don't think that's as big a deal for the future as I'd have assumed a few months back.

The game last night was a cracker, tho Fulham were dreadful at the start. I thought it would be a bore and nearly didn't bother with it, so I'm glad I did.

A few months ago I was looking at the table and thinking that 5th was possible for Liverpool but hugely unlikely, but now it's looking very likely. And last night I realised that if Man City were to lose to Spurs tonight and draw their last two games - while Liverpool win all of their remaining games (and bang in a few goals too) - then Liverpool would sneak 4th .... which would be the come-back of the century.

OK, I don't really expect it to happen, but it could. So in the hope of that huge shock, just for tonight.... c'mon you Spurs.

I definitely would agree that there is life after gerrard and some players have really stood up to be counted since he has been out. Although admitedly how these players will react under real pressure is still a big unknown. However phasing out gerrard would be a huge call for any manager to make. Personally if they could palm him off to man city or chelsea for 15 million plus I would bite their hand off.

I agree that the whole "what to do with Gerrard" thing is difficult for Liverpool, and that selling him wouldn't be a bad move as they'd still get a decent wedge for him.

But I can't really see it happening unless he wants out himself. In general Liverpool have a stronger loyalty than most other clubs to long serving players (tho there's always exceptions), and that's likely to be even stronger for someone who's from Liverpool, spent their whole career with that club, and who single-handedly won them the Chumps League.

The trouble with the scenario about city losing today and srawing there last 2 games. Is one of the home games is against stoke who have lost as many away games as anyone in the league apart from wolves and who would if man city win the fa cup would benefit from losing the game!

As I said, I don't expect it to happen. But then again I've said the same thing at various points about them getting 5th which now looks pretty likely, so you never know.

The fact that they're in with a shout of 4th is amazing enough, given where they were just a few months ago. The effect that Kenny's had has completely changed my view of managers ... I reckon there might be a few gob-smacked people when they see what I'll post in the next couple of weeks. .

Of course tho, the Suarez effect needs to be factored into Kenny's success - that's turned out to be a fantastic purchase, he's a wonderful player (when he's not 'falling over' ). But alongside that they've sold Torres and Gerrard's involvement has been light, and while they've spent big on Carroll he's not had much action - so with those taken into account, with Torres and Gerrard long considered to be waaaaay above the rest of the players, that success must be even more sweet for the club. If Kenny doesn't get the job full-time then someone has lost their marbles.
