More from Ronaldo: "Javier Mascherano wasn't like this at Liverpool. He must have learned all these cheating tricks at Barcelona."

PMSL - that's hilarious from someone known so well for his own "cheating tricks" when playing in the Prem.

Cheating is not just diving/simulation as the british media tries to make out.

Correct.

However the rules are implemented (and they're implemented differently in the Prem to Spain), players will play-up to those rules to try and gain an advantage if gaining an advantage is of more importance to them than playing an honest game.

Messi did it last night too.

Yep, he defo did.

But what I've never seen from Messi (it might happen, but I've not seen it) is him going down easily (when there's the option of going down or staying on his feet), or going down for no reason at all. The way he skips past players he could be going down with each player he passes but he chooses not to - I wish there were more players in the Prem who worked on that basis.

Vidic pushes the law right to the edge, and just past it yeah. Just like every good central defender should. Puyol does it too. Baresi was a master at it, and hes possibly the best ever.

The rolling about trying to get players sent off is what bugs me, especially when a Utd player does it, as Nani does.

Messi did it last night too.

Throughout the whole team it seemed a tactic to use home advantage and pressurising the ref to get someone sent off. For the most part i thought the ref was wise to it.

But on the flip side it was a tactic of Real Madrid to rough up Barca.

The whole thing is laughable.

Moaniho said after the first leg that Barca were playing the ref and not the game, yet his very words saying that was his own attempt at doing exactly the same.

It's not like this is unheard of within the Prem - just about every manager does it at times, tho there is one particular individual who pretty much makes a habit of it.

Generally i would agree, but last nights game there were a few occasions when he went down without contact or with very little contact. But its hard to be clear one way or another when studying slow motion replays.

The Real/Barca semi should've been one of the sporting highlights of the decade, a showpiece for the Champions League and football in general. It wasn't. It was a childish embarrassing mess. The only posititve thing to come from it is that Barca have been shown in their true light. As bad or even worse than the rest.

while I can't say that I was fully focused for every moment in watching the first leg, I didn't see any more play acting in that match than can be seen in plenty of Prem matches. I didn't finish watching that game and was left thinking "the cheating in this has been the worst I've ever seen", or even anything close to that.

I reckon that a lot of the fuss has been due to high expectations of a classic match (when 'big' matches often aren't), along with Moaniho's words working much as he intended.

I watched it all and I havent seen diving, rolling around, surrounding the ref like that ever in the Premiership. Ever. It was an absolute disgrace.

diving - there was nothing greater than can often be seen in the Prem by the usual suspects.

rolling around - there was nothing greater than can often be seen in the Prem by the usual suspects.

surrounding the ref - there was nothing greater than can often be seen in the Prem by the usual suspects.

But of course, if the usual suspects includes the team that a viewer supports, then they tend not to see those things.

agreed, I watched all of each leg and it was a disgrace to the game. Far far worse than most premier league matches.

I've said nothing different to it being "worse than most premier league matches".

What I have said is that very similar can be seen in some Prem matches. Because it can be.

I'm trying very hard to not mention particular names and examples because some people will chose to concentrate on a denial of those names rather than actually considering what's said. But...

Do some Prem players roll around like they've been shot when they've been barely touched? Yes they do.

Do some Prem players surround the ref? Yes they do.

Do some Prem players demand the sending off of other players? Yes they do.

Etc, etc etc.

There's no need to go to Spain to see the same things as were seen in the first Real/Barca leg, or in similar number.

I've actually seen Rio, on more than one occasion, telling Nani to stop being a little girl, man up and stop asking the refs for cards, and fair play for him doing that. You'd never get that in spain.

Nobody disagrees that some teams and players do it in the prem, but never to the extent of the first leg of that semi final. Never.

oh c'mon .... it's happened loads in some of the bigger games where both teams have a number of ocsar winners.
