I'd guess that if players weren't getting these injunctions then those papers might have held back the story until next weekend so that the story wouldn't run the risk of affecting Rooney playing for England.

Because there's now such a strong risk of any story getting blocked, papers are now always going to publish at the earliest opportunity.

Mind you, I'm old enough to remember the days when nearly all footballers smoked - as used to be seen when they were sat on the bench.
