Whether that particular dialogue is true is probably unlikely. having a dig around suggests its false, although I would love it to be true there doesn't seem to be any audience members who have corroborated it. Although I think its been known in television circles and around the BBC for some time that there were some terrible things going on in the Jimmy Saville dressing room.

Going to be interested to watch that on wednesday. Saville's nephew has come out yesterday very vehemently in his defense. He might want to shut the hell up and keep his head down after wednesday

The forthcoming television documentary that alleges Sir Jimmy Saville sexually abused schoolgirls during the height of his fame is also set to show the late television personality defending paedophile pop star Gary Glitter.

In the interview, conducted with a journalist in 2009, Savile appears to suggest that Glitter was the real victim in the child porn scandal as he had only used the images for his own ‘gratification’ and had not tried to sell them on.

More seriously this allows unamplified music till 11pm, not a dedicated Prodigy-remix sound-system till dawn (unfortunately).

If a bit of jazz and douche with guitar is too much for you buy a good set of earplugs (that's actually serious, I have a set as I have a kindly, deaf elderly neighbour who watches TV till the early hours).

let's hope that the re-tender pans out the same way as the lottery tender did when Beardy got that contest re-run.

Cos Beardy is a fraudster, and not even a very good one (tho plenty of numpties get taken in). The very thing he said was bad about the other rail bid was the exact thing he'd done to rip us all off over the current franchise.

I don't feel ripped off when I got a first class ticket to London for about £40 and it gets me there in 1hr 45 mins on time...

The govt sets the ticket prices.

The trains take longer to do the journey than they did 100 years ago, and don't do the journey at the speed that Beardy promised they would (and for which he took billions of pounds on the basis that they would).

But hey, aren't fraudsters great? I want to pay more taxes so that c**ty can buy himself another private island with taxpayers money, just as he did the first one.

I think you will find that first class tickets are not regulated....

they're ultimately regulated via the subsidy that the govt agree to pay a franchisee.

Virgin make a bid at x level

First make a bid at y level

Then government choose x or y... but the companies set their own level...

The government don't tell them what the prices will be outside of the regulated fair... Yes they receive x amount from government but the company is free to do what they want on unregulated fair. Virgin could charge £2000 a ticket if they wanted on a first class ticket and government couldn't do anything.

If you look at the whole of rail franchising and how it operates in reality, then what you've said there is total fantasy.

This is how it has worked in reality...

Beardy makes his bid. Beardy gets the contract.

Beardy 'discovers' that he's made a financially-impossible bid (which is really something he knew he was doing; it was his way of guaranteeing he won the contract), so goes back to the govt to say "instead of me giving you billions as I promised I would, you have to give me many more billions".

Govt looks at Virgin books, and decides that his claim of being financially unworkable adds up*, so gives him those extra billions.

(* tho they've not looked at the 'service charges' that other beardy companies

are making to Virgin Rail; this is where beardy makes the real money).

So, what we have is a system where it's to the franchisee's advantage to keep the unregulated fare rises in the same ballpark as the regulated fares (which by themselves impact on the unregulated ones anyway, via the regulated being an alternative), because otherwise it becomes impossible for beardy to milk the system as he is doing.

All of rail franchising is a PR trick, designed to put public money into private hands - with both sides of a franchise knowing how the scam works. Your view of it is the view that the govt and beardy have been hoping you'd have.
