U2 tour in chaos

While i am not a big U2 fan, i would be well pissed off if all they did was bump bands up the list and stuffed a smaller band lower down,none are big enough on the Friday to step into the U2 headliner spot. I would imagine both ME & Emily have no idea who they can get, so it could be they have to go cap in hand and do some hard work to get a replacment at short notice......As long as its not a sodding rap band.

exactly it would be ridiculous if they just bumped dizzee rascal up.

personally i'd take pulp as the replacement but i'd stil be pretty upset if U2 don't make it because they're the only people i really will not miss for anyone

this would be the first chance i've had to see one of my favourite bands and so to miss the chance because he's hurt his back would just piss me off beyond belief

I still believe that U2 will headline.

But I agree with people being unrealistic that bands will reform just to do a Glastonbury gig in a months time. Its not practical.

However, its good to dream and wish for your own personal bands to turn up rather than bands already playing.

So my real want is Depeche Mode. theyre in Paris on Saturday night so it is possible and easily headline material and off a similar vein as U2. Despite coming from an electro background compared to rock, they really do rock these days and would be brilliant at Glastonbury whether as a stand in or booked properly for future years

I am not a U2 fan in anyway but I am absolutely gutted about this news. This was a band that I would never normally have made an effort to go and see on their own tours due to the difficulties/ expenses of their tickets. This would have been a groundbreaking show with special effects/ lighting and an unbelievable stage presence and would probably have been shown across music documentaries long after our generation!

I honestly believed that the signing of U2 made Glastonbury stand out as one of the most impressive lineups again this year...

Let's hope that in the event of Bono not being able to crawl onto that stage, Eavis does not lose track of that money that he would have been spending. All these posters that are hoping for the lineup acts to move up a space are crazy!! Dizzee Rascal is no where near being a suitable replacement for U2! He is brilliant to watch but ticket holders must be eager to see their money's worth...

I am praying for one of the following (supersize acts) to fill in as headliner:

The Chemical Brothers;

The Verve;

The Coral and Noel Gallagher :P

Daft Punk

Rolling Stones

i love the way some peoples minds work over this. so there's a possibility that U2 may not make it and all of a sudden out come the fantasy wish lists that have little basis in reality. Pulp? the Smiths?

i could be wrong of course, it has been known, and maybe the Eavii do have a Gotham city-esque bat signal they light up the clouds with and somewhere, out there, the League of Extraordinary Rock Stars start to assemble a plan to save the festival.

but i doubt it.

I'm sure everything will be fine and U2 will make it. Although I can't stand them I'd feel bad for the people who want to see them. It would take a pretty big replacement to drag me away from The Flaming Lips anyway.

    • Remain self-imposed on not going north of a hundred, but... we're getting to the point now where the starting gun will be above that for some acts.
    • I'm finding the lower line up a little impenetrable this year   Any thoughts on heavier bands a la Slift a few years ago?
    • Will be curious to see how most of those shows sell. Surprised they're playing Leeds and Manchester - much as I am with Megadeth. (Not complaining, mind you.)
