The chemical brothers? I would love to see them do a live set (dj set is rubbish) but if they headline on Friday, it would be chems vs fatboy slim vs boys noize vs groove armada vs Sasha vs the orb vs etc. Already a clusterf**k of edm, yes?

If anyone will get bumped up I suspect it'll be Dizzee. He's on the up, Eavis was very complimentary about him last year and they can get someone in on the Pyramid 2nd top (e.g. Chems, Snow Patrol, Doves)

I think they will still manage to play Glasto. I mean, it's ages away and Bono has probably got the best health care looking after him, he will be fine by Glasto.

I think most of the people on this thread are way too over excited and just want something to speculate over. Sme of the suggestions on here are rediculous- Florence and the machine or The Gossip HEADLINING?! Sorry but that's just not going to happen. Florence is like Lady Gaga (crap comparition I know), she is really big but will never be able to headline a festival like Glasto.

I think he will still be able to make it :P

no its not... just under 5 weeks till they are on stage... not that long in injury and rehab turns... we'll just have to see what's said about it on Monday (presuming there will be some sort of announcement from U2 or someone) he'll have the best health care but no one knows how he'll react to the operation and that lot, the worrying thing is they have told some of the crew to go home and wait for instructions so who knows what's gonna happen... i wish Bono all the best and good luck to the Eavis's but they'll pull something out the bag

Some bizarre stuff being written on this thread. The Stones? We know for a fact they will not do it. The Smiths??? They are going to reform and practise and play a headline set within four weeks just to step into the breach and not have music's most eagerly awaited reunion on their own terms?

Florence? Surely a pyramid headliner needs to have two albums of their own material.

The easy answer is bump the Flaming lips to a well-deserved headline slot, Dizzee headline the Other Stage, Hot Chip take Dizzee's spot them bump Florence and everyone else on the Other Stage up one.

Hopefully if U2 couldn't play then Michael and Emily will do their best to get someone special in but the names being talked about above are pipe dreams. The best chance are the friends of the festival, Coldplay, Chems and then Radiohead in roughly that order of likelihood.

I totally agree you cant replace U2 with some of the mediocre bile thats been suggested although I am not a massive U2 fan they are a huge band and therefore their replacements need to be of legendary status for credibility surely??? After all they were billed as THE headliners for the 40th anniversary come on Mr E pull the rabbit out of the hat! :P

I wasn't planning on seeing them, but for selfish reasons I want everyone there to put on a great show-if 80k people go see U2 and they do the business, it only helps the atmosphere around the site. The best thing about Glastonbury IMHO is the atmosphere, the collective feeling that everyone there is having an amazing time, and a vintage U2 performance would only have helped.

If he does make it now, it'll be a *real* buzz.....
