Not really. They only ever did one good song called Debaser on a very average album called Doolittle. The rest was just a fat talentless septic tank screaming shite lyrics over basic chord structures, overdriven to f**k to hide all the mistakes.

Mr BlackHole, I'm afraid you've shown your youth and naivety there by taking the bait. But thank you for validating my drunken, piss taking jibe. Still pals??

It's the same with one of my other favourite bands, Idlewild - Roddy by himself - passable folk. Rod Jones latest solo album was pretty terrible. Put them all together - properly good songs with an added 'something' that you can't put your finger on.

Would the Beatles have been the same without Ringo's sub-par drumming? The Rolling Stones with a different singer? The Who without John? It's the same for all great bands.

The way that no Pixies side project (Breeders, Amps, Frank Black, Martinis) has come close to the actual Pixies kinds of goes towards showing my point - nobody could ever emulate the Pixies as they were about the four individuals in that band playing to each others strengths and weaknesses - put those four together and they're unstoppable. Remove just one from the equation and it all kind of falls apart.

The Breeders albums are good, but live they're pretty horrific. Okay, Kelley Deal was learning to play guitar whilst being in the band in the early days. But 20 years on she still looks like she's been playing for 2 months.

Love them both.

If I had to rate albums then probably: Surfer Rosa/Come On Pilgrim > Doolittle > Pod > Last Splash > Trompe Le Monde > Bossanova > Title TK > Mountain Battles

Had ATP birthday cake given to me by Kim Deal a few months back :P

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
    • No argument that he’s bigger than ever, I just have no enthusiasm for it.
