Tis an interesting poll nonetheless, by limiting it to '80s/'90s/'00s an thus removing many of the usual suspects it begs the question whether any contemporary guitarists are even in the same league as the legends from the '60s/'70s (when I suppose much of the music was guitar-driven). Obviously there's non entities on the list like Noel Gallagher (does he even consider himself a guitarist?...He's always been quite open about his limitations as a lyricist and guitarist, but he knows how to write a song)...while Kurt Cobain was a great frontman when he tried, he was hardly an axe-God (good to see at least Joey Santiago is on the list having been Kurt's inspiration). Having said that, I'd class Knopfler as an '80s guitarist through and through, so he's a notable absentee...also Rodrigo y Gabriela are both fantastic exponents of the style they play, and Elliot Smith was a lovely guitarist. But the most striking feature of those listed are how many of them have a "signature" sound. It's pretty easy to spot a Johnny Marr riff, or an Edge riff, or a Kevin Shields song, couldn't really confuse their sound with anyone else (not that the greats from the '60s and 70s didn't have signature sounds, but you know what I mean, many of the new breed aren't overtly technically proficient (or maybe they're just not flash), but still unmistakable).

I find Satriani a bit of a show off to be honest. Undoubtedly talented, but it's more 'look how fast I can play' as opposed to 'look what I can play'.

He's no Clapton. Or Page.

The correct answer is 'None of the above - Hendrix was/is'.

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.

    • I don't think I'm alone as a Scotland fan that there is no way that I could possibly fall asleep knowing we're about to play our first World Cup game in 28 years! Pure adrenaline is keeping me wide awake (and plenty of rum)!
    • Trying to stay awake for the footy so it’s just the easy option of a battery😊😉
