Levellers - probably playing!

eFestivals editor Scottie has just got off the phone from interviewing Levellers frontman Mark Chadwick, who says they're hoping to play Glastonbury next year, and are currently in discussions. Mark hopes they'll play the Pyramid.

Mark is under the impression that they've been asked as part of this 40th anniversary thing because they've previously headlined, which suggests there could be plenty of past headliners on the bill. :P

here's the exact words of Mark....

"We're hoping to play it next year, I believe because it's part of the 40th Anniversary. I believe they want to bring back bands who have headlined it over the decades. I'd obviously like to play it. Hopefully, we're going to be on the Pyramid Stage but we'll see, we have no idea, it's in discussions."

I did like their afternoon slot at Jazz World a few years back , the Brothers helped of course.

I missed most of the Leftfield set the other year , cos I was unable to extract myself from the

delights of the Red Flag

... and met them afterwards :P

how drunk were they?

I once made the mistake of drinking with them for a few hours while I interviewed them. :P

I had to go home and have some coffee and something to eat, to try to sober up. I returned to the venue 3 hours later for the gig, and they were still in the pub next door .... they came straight from the pub (with their beers in hand) and onto the stage half an hour later.

I'm amazed that any of them have working livers. :P:P

I remember reading somewhere the levs got the biggest crowd ever at glastonbury in 94 when headlining the pyramid stage. Mainly to do with the amount of fence jumpers that year and also because they were the festival band of the early 90s. I remember looking behind me and seeing the entire field packed as far as i could see. - great days.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
