IIRC the Levs were on 3rd on the bill on the Saturday (before Lou Reed and the very odd choice of Shakespear's Sister as headliner. I was off watching The Shamen on the NME. Now that was a gig.

Before Carter on the Friday was James (replacing Morrissey) and Fishbone. How I remember all this through all the drugs of Glasto in those days I'm not quite sure. Halcyon days for the festival, certainly.

I've just checked the programme for 1992 - Saturday is listed as:

The Sawdoctors

The House Of Love

The Fall

Morissey - who was replaced by The Levs I think.

Lou Reed

Sakespeare's Sister

Friday says:

The Blue Aeroplanes

The Breeders

Television

Fishbone

The Levellers

Carter USM

The 1990 has no Lev's in that I can see

Yaaaaaayyy, I saw them for the first time this year and it was an amazing gig, despite being stoney sober and being barged by a massive fat guy who made me bite my tongue really hard. Would love to see them on the pyramid!

I remember reading somewhere the levs got the biggest crowd ever at glastonbury in 94 when headlining the pyramid stage. Mainly to do with the amount of fence jumpers that year and also because they were the festival band of the early 90s. I remember looking behind me and seeing the entire field packed as far as i could see. - great days.

From what I heard, they will be playing. The Pyramid Stage, sometime over the weekend.

    • No worries, it's a perfectly fair question to ask. I would expect people to be talking at the back & near the bars & that is where I would want them to be talking. If your group are enjoying yourselves & the music & briefly chatting to say how much you are loving a certain song etc, you would be an ideal group to stand behind.   My issue is with people having full blown conversations (usually unrelated what is on the stage) whilst being surrounded by people who are trying to listen to the music. This was happening in the middle and towards the front of all stages, & so you have limited options to move around & you may have spent 20 minutes waiting for the band trying to get the closest position that you can. If there's a group of 8 people, there may be 2 or 3 that like the band & the rest will start talking if the music isn't their thing. This may be the norm now for festivals, and if it is, that's ok & I will focus on a band's own gigs & UK based new music festivals.    I'm also not including consequences of my own decision making. I saw Geese on Wednesday so went to Occident after Men I Trust finished so it was understandable there would be chatting that far back. Similarly, getting to The XX after Olivia Rodrigo along with most of the site, I knew my chance of a good spot & a chat-free zone had gone so that was completely reasonable.   PS. I went to Bilbao BBK in 2023 & 2025 & enjoyed it. For Pulp & Kylie in 2025, I got a position early & was surrounded by a respectful & fun crowd for both. The UK non-headlining bands tend to go on the undercover 3rd stage, & most people like to congregate outside so you can usually get close to the front of that stage.
    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
