It seems like every member on eFestivals doesn't want anyone to do anything remotely fun at Glastonbury. Crowd surfing is part of the whole gig experience in my opinion. No-one ever really gets too injured do they? People need to relax at little bit.

I've been kicked in the face before by these selfish f**kers! Liberal doesn't come into it; it's f**king selfish and antisocial. Why should we have to risk getting twatted in the face if we go near the front? That's like me saying "I'll be at the back, hitting people with a stick. If you don't like it, stay away from the back".

You deserve to be kicked out!

Some crowd surfers are evil, but most of them are quite benevolent and are just having their way of fun. It's expected down the front of gigs and if you don't like it or get kicked in the head or anything then move backwards or sideways?

To the people who have been kicked in the head by a crowd surfer, unfortunately its quite hard to control whether you glide over someones head or accidently kick them. If you get kicked, then its fair play to shove or hit the surfer i guess.

Nowt wrong with crowd surfing and to be expected down the front of any gig, festival or not in my opinion. I also doubt very much they would kick you out of the festival for it.

I used to crowdsurf back in the day but back in 'my' day was 25 years ago.

Tbh I'm beginning to question the crowd makeup for Glasto. This week alone I have seen threads about no pushing to the front, no talking, no flags, no crowdsurfing. Get a grip people..

I do however agree with no brollies and chairs past the mixing desks though. I think a brolly is far more dangerous than a crowd surfer.

I know what you mean. I've never crowdsurfed but have had massive kicks in the head from them. I still wouldn't ban them though, sometimes you get inconvenienced by other people having fun, might aswell just enjoy yourself instead of moaning about everything.

another Marmite thread! Cool!

Those that have been hurt by surfers are bound to have a different view to those that do it or not been hurt. I don't really like cats due to being bitten by one when I was younger but I am not sure I would ban them. I don't think cats should be brought to a festival though so I am not sure where I am going with this......

I have never done it and can see that if you had waited for hours with your partner and kids to watch a fav band only for some tw@t to bounce off your youngest's head and take his teeth out that you would be more than a little p'd off. But then you probably wouldn;t be at the front with your family during Prodigy or some such band where the mosh pit is definitely not for the squeamish.

I fall in the live and let live camp. I would not go to the front unless I was prepared for a little rough and tumble but then again would be mighty aggreived if some d1ck decided it was fun to rip my ear off - in which case he can expect a little back - quid pro quo. The argument "why did you punch me in the kidney's man - I was only surfing" does not really wash does it?

As I say I have never done it but from afar it looks good when done right and for the right band.

On the anti-social thing - an act is anti-social if the people around you do not enjoy it or find it frightening/offensive so surfers just need to pick their moments!

(Imagine having your ear ripped off by a surfer and then being caught by a warm pint of urine - another anti-social thread - how much would that sting?)

Thing is, it's different from flags, or green chairs, or talking or whatever. Lots of people put up with that despite really not liking it. There's a debate to be had there: would the majority of the crowd prefer not to have them if given the choice.

But crowd surfing requires the co-operation of the majority of the crowd. Cause without it you fall flat on your face. It needs people to hold you up. If you don't like it then cover your head and let them fall. If the majority of the crowd does that, no-one gets anywhere, no-one crowd surfs, QED.

I don't like it much, honestly if someone could be sure to a reasonable level that no-one would get hurt doing it then I wouldn't mind. But as someone pointed out earlier, it's pretty hard to be sure when tumbling over a bunch of people that you won't kick one in the head. It's more likely to happen than not. As such, I really don't see why any normal person would do it. In any other situation if I walked around kicking people in the head 'cause it was a laugh I'd get arrested. But as I say, the majority won't mind.

Yep, people should lighten up and let the crowdsurfers enjoy themselves.

On a related note, what is it with the fascist killjoys who would deny me the simple pleasure of wandering up to strangers and kicking them as hard as I can in the shins, simply because it's fun? What right do they have? It's a festival!

I was at a Late of the Pier gig in Leeds last year when one of the band was dragged in to the crowd and forcebly surfed. He got back to the stage, and they stopped the gig, at which point the crowd booed them.

Crowd surfing ruined that gig.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
