The Wonderstuff

Yes yes I know that Bruce is a legend and that i'll probably never get to see him again on these isles, but I still have such a soft spot for the Wonderstuff. And Ive not seen them for 15 years.

Apparently they will be performign 8 legged groove machine as its 20 years since its release.

My first festival experience was Phoenix 94 (i think) and they were incredible as the headliners.

I think i'll try and catch the first half of the Boss and if im not feeling it will nip across to Avalon to watch the Wonderstuff.

How long would it take to walk between the Pyramid and Avalon?

Does anyone else have similar plans?

No contest...only time I ever saw them was in their (supposed) final ever tour in the run up to Phoenix 94. Not eve been able to catch them in these years since they returned. Must go and dig out my old videos and vinyl when I get home this weekend. :P

with the right underfoot conditions, you can do Pyramid to Avalon in 5 minutes if you are on your own and walk briskly.

In mud, and with company, it will be a lot longer

From the back of the field, diagonal to meeting point to miss the market crowds and take it from there.

I would have a similar clash problem, with added Jarvis

No contest...

Stuffies all the way!

Also saw them at their "Farewell Gig" at Phoenix...

Have seen Miles Hunt doing his solo stuff, and have also seen the Stuffies two or three times since, in various guises. Well worth a bop. :P

I'm going with Springsteen, but I guarantee you that the atmosphere in the Avalon tent for the Stuffies will be amazing. Everyone in the tent will have the same kind of personal connection to the band that you have, whereas half of the crowd at the Boss will just be there 'because you might as well' or because there's not much else on they want to see and they want to see if he's really any good or not. Not that he isn't going to be amazing, y'understand....

If it wasn't for 2 Many Djs it would be stuffies for me, I too was there at Phoenix 1994. If the dance tent is ridiculously packed (which is entirely possible) I may hotfoot it to avalon though. Especially if it's 8 legged groove machine centric!!

I saw them on Friday! They were at Wychwood festival, playing the sunset slot in glorious weather, and were on very good form I'm glad to say! I saw them about 2 years ago & they were okish but they really nailed it on Friday night, played some absolute classics....Circlesquare, Unbearable, Mission Drive...

They played a greatest hits set (minus one obvious omission) but they have been playing Eight Legged Groove Machine in its entirety at gigs for a few months now. I thought they would have done another hits set at Glasto?

I have the farewell gig on VHS, haven't watched it in years, you've reminded me so may have a gander :P

Is there going to be anyone in the Avalon tent UNDER 30??? I highly doubt it! :P May I suggest a possible mini meet nearby before hand perhaps as there seems to be a reasonable number of us heading that way...

and you all realise that it means that we are all bang next to Trash and Shangri La and wont get caught up in the post Boss exodus and get there before the crowds! :D

Defo The Stuffies, it's going to be superb!

I would watch The Boss but only really to get a glimpse of Sil from The Sopranos and listen to Hungry Heart (which he may not even play)

Red Berry Joy Town, It's Yer Money I'm After, Baby, Give Give Give Me More More More and Ruby Horse are all guaranteed an outing. Haven't even mentioned one song of Hup or Never Loved Elvis.

I'm buzzing like a sticky whiskered bee!

    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
    • It'll be all over various Seatfillers based upon previous years at Sandringham
    • The Jayhawks 2026 UK Tour    Sept 15 – Brighton – Corn Exchange  Sept 16 – London – Electric Ballroom Sept 17 – Manchester – Academy 2 Sept 18 – Glasgow – The Garage    For you ‘americana’ lovers. They have a great song book.
    • Weezer just announced a new album & US tour so could add them to the headliner pool. Imagine they’ll do this or trees
