  1. I agree, I wonder if Phoebe would get lost in the afternoon on the Pyramid. If ever there was an act suited to play The Park it's Phoebe Bridgers. Still if it's double Phoebe on the Friday and saturday I shall not complain
  2. Well this is probably the most hyped corner of the internet for Glastonbury there is so I can understand your fear. That said, as you can tell we all love it. FWIW my other festivals will have been Reading (89/90), Beautiful Days and Bloodstock and the difference in scale is huge, not just in the number of people but also the variety of things to do and experience. Have a flipping great festival. I hope it lives up to our hype for you.
  3. I am so jealous of the first-timers, prepare to be blown away, it is nothing like the TV version. I'll never forget that first glimpse of the site from my coach in 2009 as we descended into the village and on to Gate A, my gob remains smacked to this very day.
  4. The Wine bar disco was one of my early Glastonbury discoveries that showed me a side of the festival I did not get from watching on tv. We spent hours there on a Wednesday or Thursday night in 2009 just waiting for them to play a crap tune so we could leave, they didn't. We stayed, we danced and we even bought some their god awful wine. Happy days

Who knew 🙂 Whilst we are on the topic Brightonion vegan kebabs Falafofil on Gardner Street are also superb and slightly more manageable than What the Pitta's huge portions
  6. In retrospect missing Blur would be my regret, although at the time I wasn't particularly enamoured with them, so who's to say if I had watched them I would have got a lot out of it. Having watched the set since, it really was a true Glastonbury moment and I now wish I had been there.

    Wet Leg

After watching Gaye Bykers and Spacemen 3 my group binned the rest of the Friday off to go and see Dawn After Dark play Opera on the Green in Shepherd's Bush and then came back to the site ready for the Saturday and Sunday.

You need to try the vegan kebabs at The Hope. I've been eating them since Beelzebab started out as a street food vendor. Superb food. They'd clean up at Glastonbury.
  9. Totally agree. Got them at Bloodstock this year really looking froward to them destroying the place. I have seen them before playing with Napalm Death and Venom Prison in Vienna few years ago, they were awesome

    Wet Leg

I've got a headache after reading that. Totally overwritten. Excruciating to get through....unlike the album which I am happily listening to right now. Looking forward to seeing Wet Leg on the farm.
  11. My Glastonbury Chilly water bottle is on its way. After all the furore on the resale day I found myself hankering for a decent beverage vessel.
  12. Midlake last night were fab. A thoroughly pleasant hour or so awaits those who choose to see them this year.
  13. This is my 8th, but I'm not sure that is veteran status just yet (although I do get 2016 points!)
  14. Am off to see Midlake in Brighton tonight, really looking forward to it. A nice gentle bit of Glastonbury prep for a Tuesday night.
  15. The bell tents in WV are higher up the campsite closer and to the entrance from the car park the they are to the festival. I've stayed in the WV Bells and they are great but for me (rather than the rest of my group) it did feel a little remote from the festival. We shall be in Sticklinch this year and with Rigs Field on the other side of the hedge it should hopefully feel more like a natural extension of the festival itself. It also appears to be a lot easier to get back too during the day should you want to whereas it is much more of a slog to do that for WV.
  16. I normally bring a dozen carefully curated craft beers from one of my favourite local off-licences which always has a good selection. This means some good quality beer for weds-thursday. For the rest of the festival I will make a cash contribution to the red wine box and communal ciders. Other than that I am happy to buy from the bars and most importantly the cider bus.
  17. Thought the Scum stage was around 1000
  18. My days of being in the pit are long gone. I'm happy to be a crusty these days. Although I think there is some merit at Glastonbury in getting closer to the front for a little more room particularly on the larger stages.
  19. efests has peaked early this week. I flipping love this post. Absolutely top stuff Kalifire you have distilled the magic perfectly. I'll miss out on this as I'll be rolling into Sticklinch around midday but I was so close to convincing my group to go inside the fence this year and this would have been our (I mean MY plan).

They are superb. Opposite Leftfield last time out
  21. Kasbah has gone sadly. Memories of dancing on a table to Busted 1.30am are long gone....I think there is a bar there but it's not the same
  22. Pretty sure Pyramid and JP will be my most visited. Honourable mentions to Avalon, The Park, West Holts and Williams Green. This year will quite Pyramid light for me I think.

    Glastocast

Superb! Looking forward to it. Am currently working my way through the old episodes again!
  24. I've only started listening to Sam recently, but I am very impressed with him. Really good hooky songs that actually say something interesting. Really looking forward to seeing him on the Farm now.
