Posted 28 June 2011 - 06:45 PMEn route to fleet foxes, passing through the dance village and some band were playing rebecca blacks 'friday'. Stopped for a dance and went on our way. Other than that, yes to TVOTR doing ghostbusters.
Posted 28 June 2011 - 06:55 PMAs someone said Emmy the great with ash singer doing where is my mind
Posted 28 June 2011 - 07:45 PMWithout doubt the Spirit of 71 house band playing Baker Street in memory of Gerry Rafferty. More than made up for the none appearance of Steve Hillage.
Posted 28 June 2011 - 07:48 PMHURTS cover of kylie confide in me.......hurts were an amazing act, highlight for me.

TV on the Radio's version of Ghostbusters. Brilliant
Oh yeah that was class, coincidental as the previous night was dancing to the original at Brothers bar
Posted 28 June 2011 - 07:59 PMLazyhabits doing both Justices' - We are your Friends and Daft Punk's - Da Funk
Posted 30 June 2011 - 05:48 PMI also saw Emmy The Great & Tim from Ash doing Where Is My Mind.
In addition to House of the Rising Sun during Say I Won't (Recognise), Gaslight Anthem also covered Muddy Waters' Mannish Boy during Old White Lincoln.

HURTS cover of kylie confide in me.......hurts were an amazing act, highlight for me.
I didn't recognise the song, thought it was a new one by them. Hence I didn't include it in my first list. Means actually I saw quite a few covers.
And yes. Hurts were absolutely amazing. The lead singer has such a stage presence. I am so annoyed they got 0 T.V and online coverage. I mean wtf?
Posted 30 June 2011 - 06:03 PMKool & the Gang doing Don't Stop Till You Get Enough was damn near as good as Janelle's MJ tribute...
I say damn near cos Janelle's Monae's set pretty much blew the roof off the stage. She just oozed confidence, class and charisma.
Future headliner ? Why am I even bothering with a question mark ?

This was great, we could hear it from our campsite.
Posted 01 July 2011 - 03:21 AMLoved Beyonce doing You Oughta Know and Janelle was indeed amazing doing I Want You Back but my highlight was:
Jamie Woon - Would I Lie To You?
Posted 01 July 2011 - 07:21 AMTame impala doing massive attacks angel was pretty special, the way they were bringing it up and just cutting the sound together was perfect! Not sure if they did it at the park but played it on the pyramid
Posted 01 July 2011 - 07:52 AMAnna Calvi's version of Jezebel. Surprised noone has mentioned this yet.
Posted 01 July 2011 - 08:13 AMNewton Faulkner's Bohemian Rhapsody, with a lot of singing along from the Avalon Stage crowd.
Posted 01 July 2011 - 08:39 AMOnly heard one act do covers all weekend- the balearic folk orchestra on the park stage on saturday did a haunting version of the beloved's sweet harmony (among others) which I heard while I was chillin at the tipi. Great memories!

Yeah loved Darwin Deez, really entertaining with their little dance routines to Enya, Mike Snow etc. One of the highlights for me..
