I think Be Here Now is not average but distinctly poor. The rest are average except for the Masterplan which I would say is good, nothing astoundingly impressive though.

And haven't you forgotten Standing on the Shoulders of Giants? Which was also pretty dull.

I think Urban Hymns is mostly poor. It's got a couple of good britpop singles, but neither astound me and I don't rate the album. I prefer the first two albums considerably, especially a Storm in Heaven. Shoegazing for the win!

And I don't think it's a class issue. I think it's because they wrote 2 fantastic albums which they were never able to follow, yet remain one of the most arrogant bands around. They're stuck-up tossers that are no longer earning the right to be so.

Agree about V, thought they put on a great show at Staffs, Glasto I agree they were poor......Reading 2000............well

Best I have ever seen them was at Millenium Stadium a few years ago, was a brillaint all round day of music. Even got Liams setlist :angry:

welll its all opinons isn't it. but I thiink the majority of people who know there head from there arse felt don't belive the truth was a return to form for oasis so for you not to give credit there is strange and makes me feel that no matter what they did u wouldn't review them in a posative light.

I reckon you're about right.

I still reckon Be Here Now gets more shit than it deserves, purely because people expected so much. I reckon if a new band brought that out as a first album, people would say it was the nuts.

Michael Stipe has today said that the new REM album is to be released in April.....Glasto bound with a new album to promote?

Also Led Zep are in talks to play the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff (More shows the better chance of a Glasto slot I would say)

I hated Lyla, and hence didn't bother buying the album or going to the Millenium Stadium gig, which I had considered. The Importance of Being Idle is a very strong track, but why would I bother listening to these when there's Definitely Maybe and WTSMG? It has exactly the same Beatles rip-off sound. I want a band to develop their sound and not stick with the same one for more than 1 or 2 albums. They have never and will never top their first 2 by retaining the same musical style. They'd shown they'd mastered that and the next step would be to show us what else they can do. Yet they just tried to do the same thing, over and over and over and over and over again. It's just more and more of the same. A "return to form" is not the same as a top album. The only reason a band should return to their original sound is if they've been experimenting around and have settled that their prior technique is the best one for them. Oasis weren't even original in the first place, but to then blast out just bland mundane versions of their original rip-off sound is (as crozbie15 has said) "just depressing". They lack creativity or any form of musical development. They would've still got considerable criticism even if all their later albums had been of similiarly high quality, for their failure to produce anything new or different.

And it's possible to vary your sound without changing as dramitcally as the Verve did with their 1st reunion. See His 'n' Hers -> Different Class -> This is Hardcore. All those albums have a distinctly different feel to them, yet all fall within the Britpop sub-genre.

I feel the same actually about Radiohead.

Also they have just anounced when those UK dates will be

24th & 25th June - London Victoria Park

27th June - Glasgow Green

29th June - Manchester LCCC

That leaves the Saterday of Glasto free, which does feel like quite a Radiohead style spot.

Ive also looked and the next date on there tour calender after the Manchester one and its on the first of July so that gives them the usual a days break after 3 gigs in a row

so hopfully it would look like this

24th-London Victoria Park

25th-London Victoria Park

27th-Glasgow Green

28th -(hopfully) Glastonbury?

29th-Manchester LCCC

1st-Westerpark Amsterdam.
