no Kylie, no radiohead

You have no idea how much i hope the Verve isnt one of the headliners

it looks as tho they're going to be the Saturday headliner - I can't think who else it might be now.

I'm guessing that Muse (if they're playing) will be Friday (Michael got a lot of hassle from locals after having Muse on the Sunday a few years back - they expect him to put on a 'please everyone' act on the Sunday and they didn't think Muse fitted the bill .... hence Kylie being booked for the next year, which I think wouldn't have happened if he'd never have booked Muse).

So that just leaves Sunday.

Surely the dates make it even more likely- seeing as theyve left the 28th, the Saturday- ie the slot most likely to be theirs wide open?

Keep hoping if you like.

There's a pint with your name on if they do. I'm sure I won't be buying you a pint.

i must admit i'm a bit surprised that Radiohead have scheduled all their UK gigs over Glasto week....with most folks now turning up sometime on Weds its going to make the Tuesday gig the only viable option....and then only for those live locally or who can tie it in with the journey to Somerset.

I appreciate the validity of Neil's sources, but the gap on Saturday, with the above considered, does still stick out like a sore thumb...

Want to put my name on another pint you wont be buying Neil?

It depends if these tour dates were your only information, or if you have festival information. I don't think these tour dates remove the possibility of a Glastonbury Saturday date.

I have festival information, I have (aside from the tour dates) Radiohead information.

I can't state categorically that I'm absolutely certain that they're not playing because i'm relying on what others have told me rather than having direct sources myself. However, the people that have told me that they're not playing have supplied me with extremely accurate information in the past and I have no reason to think what they've told me is any less accurate this time.

But that aside, if all I had was their tourdates I'd still be near enough convinced they weren't playing. Bands who don't work publicly very often very rarely slog their guts out when they do work publicly.

And I'd go so far as to say that it's likely that Radiohead chose the dates that they have done precisely to make it clear they're not playing Glasto.

i think theyll play

otherwsie no one going to glasto could see any of the UK dates

surely radiohead are aware of this

I'm sure they are - Glastonbury was in one of the possible schedules they'd put together.

Perhaps it's something they've done with Eavis' full blessing. He does, after all, want to lose the old gits from his festival.

I was once skeptical of the Verve's size, but after seeing how quick there tickets sold, its clear there fanbase is still there (in there masses) and there is no denying there hot property at the minuite, so yeah they probably could headline.

Neil, if they do glasto, does this mean we wont be seeing them at the CW like you initially suggested we would?

Anybody got any guesses for the sunday, as im all out of ideas.

I still reckon they'll be at Reading/Leeds even if they do Glasto, cos they'll want a big pay-cheque from someone. Reforms are *ALWAYS* about the money.

Best guess (and it is just a guess) at the moment for the Sunday is REM.

I'm hoping, and admitedly it seems unlikely, that Radiohead are putting people off the scent for Glasto to make sure they sell out the UK tour.

They are playing big venues, and don't have Parlophone to pay to advertise the gigs like they used too, so they might be worried about sales.

Also, I don't like the Verve!

So they are going to go all the way from London to Glasgow to Glastonbury back up to Manchester ?? Am I the only one who thinks thats alot of miles! Coupled with Neils sources saying it isnt likely I wont be planning on seeing them...

Although not like I would of watched them anyways

Look at the other tour dates...

The only time they are playing consecutive nights are in the same venue (london, paris)

the logistics of moving their stage show from glasgow to glasto to manchester on consecutive nights just doesnt add up

unfortunately i think Neil might be right....:)

    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
