Anyone know how late the H5 and metro ran during the festival.

Stopped at a lovely hotel last night, during Szigets dates next year its pretty damn cheap at the same 1.

H5 runs all night. Metro stops operating around midnight (1am on Friday and Saturday). But you can take the tram (line 4/6) instead which covers most of the city centre.

I'm bored at work so I'm watching Sziget-interviews and stuff.

Tamás Kádár, CEO, after the festival:

  • “We started to get out of that downward spiral that lasted until the end of 2022.
  • “It seems like this year the crowd was somewhat younger than in the previous year - it’s good for us, it’s important for the future to attract new generations”
  • “There was no tension among visitors, Sziget felt super peaceful from the inside, a great response to people who attacked us previously from all directions”

It was announced after Sziget, that there is going to be a “cultural center” at the southern part of the island, that’s not used by anyone, with a lot of abandoned buildings. (A guy got those buildings for peanuts for 50 years, so now he/the government will work on that area.) Kádár said “letting that land and buildings rot is not good for anyone, but let’s wait and see what the improvements will be, but of course if both parties find value in that, we will be open for a cooperation.”

Kádár on K-bridge: “It would be important to make something out of it. As far as we’ve heard there is a plan in the making on renovations, but only the city council knows if they can actually fund it.”

Some semi-interesting quotes from an interview with a week before the festival from Tamás Kádár CEO (src: Refresher / Youtube).

“The situation that European festivals are closing is due to the covid era. 2 years with no income would ruin any companies on the world. This made the restart difficult for a lot of festivals, then in 2022 everyone wanted to go everywhere, so we couldn’t measure where the market is. It was temporary happiness. Then in 2023, many were hit by reality and festivals had to close. Expenses skyrocketed in this past 3 years (…) and this is a whole different market now. There are festivals that couldn’t cope with that. The biggest challenge is how to make operations profitable while the audience doesn’t feel much growth in ticket prices and expenses. We can only stay competitive if we keep day ticket prices at the price of a concert’s price. (…) You also need to keep that sense of freedom and a potential overcrowding is definitely would not add to that. We need to balance our daily capacity, try not to have a day with 100k people, then another with 50k.”

“We hear when people say “it’s not like it used to be”. No, it’s not. It’s a lot more inspiring visually, a lot more quality than 10-20-30 years ago.”

“We try to follow European trends in our line up - we must pay attention to what our visitors want. We do want to dictate the trend in how the festival looks like, instead of following it. I believe these improvements, visuals, experience, could lead us back to the top tier. Our delta district, the looks of it, now reached a level we wanted to reach for a while now.”

“There are situations you can’t prepare for. A plane was cancelled and the whole crew of a hundred people of Mumford and Sons got stuck on the way, or a blade stuck in the eye of the singer of Nothing But Thieves, five minutes before the show, and they needed to cancel - you can’t prepare for such a horrible accident.” - added Virág Csiszár, head of booking.

😂😂😂 I think many visitors wants a guitar bands and lineup like in 2019, not some crap like Anyma, Shawn Mendes…

(shawn mendes we have to admit that this IS what many visitors want...Pop music is successful, whether we like it or not 😅)

Same for guitars bands / rock bands, but organisers from Sziget will never admit it.. everyone knows truth is these bands are more expensive than DJ's, that is all.

Just seing the amazing crowd at Papa Roach this year, it speaks for itself.

I wouldnt be surprised if bands ike Falling in Reverse, Ghost or Sleep Token were bring on the Island in the next years

I was so shocked that it seems like his day was the most successful. I asked a girl at the bar and she was like "of course he's the most popular this week, HE'S SHAWN MENDES".

I’m struggling to do anything productive. Post festival/incoming end of summer blues hit me hard.

Yeah, I completely get you, it's awful. I've got my honeymoon in 2 weeks so if I really focus on that I feel better. But definitely can't focus on work until then.

Funny thing is that there were more people at Nelly Furtado instead of Shawn Mendes

Reffering to Sziget saying: ,,Next year’s headliner? We’re 🤏this close to telling you. ‘’ and seeing everybody is talking about The Weeknd, also if you ask Chatgpt about The Weeknd show in Budapest, it says: from official sources The Weeknd will perform at Budapest on the 10th of August, 2026.

The Weeknd’s last show from his american tour is on the 27th of September. Maybe he will announce his Europe tour after this date?

It’s referring to a Wikipedia page (hardly official, ain’t it?) which does not mention anything about Budapest. After the 4 confirmation requests it realises the error. It’s just hallucinating as usual.

Yeah, this isn't correct I'm afraid. It should be, it would make sense if it was, but it's definitely not.

I was staying at the back at both concerts. There were much more people at Nelly Furtado and many of them went home after her concert.

Yeah but only because the crowd wasn’t rushing to the front of the stage. It seems that there were more people, but you could literally dance in the front rows during Nelly, while you couldn’t move during Shawn

I'm not sure about my idea and how it can be managed to pass, but I think it would enhance the number of beverage-buyers if they introduced recups with more design. People love the cups that include the lineup, I buy lineup-cups every year because it is a great memory. I believe it was great if they also created some of them with just the headliners or with amazing photos, so that people would buy more and more, instead of using random cups.

Great suggestion.

For example, check Punk Rock Holiday cups.

I couldn’t get a lineup cup this year, tried all my usual spots, but they were either out by the time I got there, or never even had them. Does anyone happen to have a spare one they’d be willing to part with?

There were only 50 during the 6 days at 1 bar

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
