My bet is:
Sofi Tukker - Pick Up The Phone
They had a headline gig at Budapest Park last summer.

They've got 4 European festivals in June, playing in the US a week after Sziget, so it's doable.

...but nothing in Europe in July and in August they're in the USA. My bet is Paul Kalkbrenner ☎️

Agree, Kalkbrenner is a good call

...and maybe on 14.8 or 15.8 after the Poland-Date... no big name at those two days yet at Sziget

Didn't even had a headphones with him at Sziget the last time 😂

Only rookies need those. Real professionals are driven by the vibe glowing from the crowd.

Deftones were announced for Vienna on August 16th. I don’t think they will be playing, but that would be bold, especially since they’re quite popular right now.

It would certainly be a massive u turn from sziget, having 3 rock headliners. When's the last time that happened?

I still personally think it is a nailed on EDM act. The EDM acts will be announced next I presume.

EDM will come regardless. but i think given the headliners more rock will come still.

Absolutely no way Sziget is going from having Charli XCX, Chappell Roan and Anyma as headliners one year to be followed by 21P, BMTH and Deftones the next.

I mean we are not that far away from ts happening 😂

We won’t be short on EDM overall.  Maybe they could go for a more electronic headliner like moby/kraftswerk/pavov stellar coheadliner. But I don’t think we even need that as the dance stages will be full of EDM.

there are other types of music not very presented so far.    We lack world music and rap in the headliner slots.  Gorrilaz would be a good fit as they are multi genre.  The cure or nick cave would be good legacy headliners( totally different to the nu metal they have so far.

The only rock headliner is BMTH, no? The rest is pop (counting Florence as rock seems a bit far fetched).

    • Its just going to be another dementia tax isn't it? The issue is this is going to be seen as a continuation of the labour government that have already raised taxes 1000% above manifesto promises.
    • One thing that Burnham has been talking about is scrapping inheritance tax and replace it with a social care levy ... which would be less progressive, but might be a good idea if was a solution for the social care crisis. Would need to sell it well to a public who would prefer not to pay more tax.
    • Maybe you should put your name forward to be Burnham's chancellor.
    • But I think the point of that Dan Needle tax thing...we need to put up income tax, for all incomes (and thresholds should be unfrozen).
    • There are no easy answers...more than anything we need growth...and probably main ways of getting that is borrowing more to invest in stuff that makes us super sexy, and/or cut taxes on business and wealth generation which would mean less money to spend on public services and welfare and would obviously be super unpopular and get you chucked out of govt. On top of all that got an aging population, a growing welfare bill, a call for higher spending on defence, housing inequality, higher borrowing costs, and probably a load more sh*t on the way due to the Iran war (although so far it hasn't been that bad?)
