Something in the range of 30 euros for a shakshuka at one stall called "Mykonos" if I do recall myself - the place was always full with the whitest people I could fathom

Hahaha. We walked past Mykonos and laughed at it regularly. As someone who has been to the island of Mykonos on a couple of occasions, and seen the very, very image conscious dwellers there, it certainly appeared to be striving for that clientele - and getting it.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if we start seeing more of this type of thing at Sziget......🥲

I’ve been going to Sziget every year since 2010 and have seen many changes.  Some have been good,  some less good,  but overall it’s still a great event.

organisation has much improved over the years,  the passport is easy to use with the app being pretty awsome to organise your day.    The Revolut/arena being open on the sides instead of one in and one out is so much more comfortable.  Communication has much improved believe it or not.

I like the new buzz stage,  better than the Europe that it replaced.

the new drop yard is also cool/ magic mirror has always been amazing

the new arena and revolut were cool this year

i miss the classical and jazz stage and of course the huge world music stage they used to have.   I miss the rock music djs in the evenings.

i feel the island is quieter.  Less people camping means there is more open space which is nice for shortcuts but reduces the atmosphere quite a bit.

im not a huge fan of all the brand stands.  Let’s get some Sziget creatives making some cool areas that are not branded to Disney or old spice.  I loved the ruin bar quarter they had a few years ago for example.  Make more of szho with more decorations /art etc.

the light stage is awsome,  have 2 or more stages like that dotted around

love the street theatre,  always have as much as possible as it builds atomoshereZ

whatever they do they need more people there for the week instead of day tickets.  Day ticketers are not there for the festival just one act and suck the fun out of it camping in front of the main stage.

its exiting to here that they may expand the festival south a bit to untlse some of the new development of its ready for next year.   Maybe some cool indoor spaces would be fun,  the arts stuff could certainly go down there.  Expand workshops as it was quite limited this year.

Overlapping acts: sziget and primaverasound 2025 (by chatgpt)

  • Charli XCX

  • Chappell Roan

  • FKA Twigs

  • Zaho de Sagazan

  • Brutalismus 3000

  • The Dare

  • Horsegiirl

  • Caribou

Wrong Horsegirl btw - Sziget's had the horse queen, Primavera had a indie all-girl band

The cure getting very likely, i would take teddy swims too

Unlikely as hell, tbf - The Cure are famous for super long sets and Sziget has a very busy schedule on the Main Stage. This without accounting for the super wholesome party cheerful zoomer girl vibes they have been going after for the last 2-3 years or so

If people could take 8 acts

from primerera,  what would you take.  Try and take similar sized acts as last year

I must admit that primavera has a great line up next year, but not exactly my choice of taste, my list would be: the cure, the xx, gorillaz, skrillex, marina, (bit less interested in massive attack and wet leg), although none of them alone would even get me to buy a dayticket instantly..

Last years first announcement looked very weak (however the full lineup turn up reasonably okay) i guess they dont want to make the same mistake

I'm was not talking about the lineup, more about the fact that they're not exactly swimming in money and the promised 'news soon' didn't happen.

There's no point in waiting for marketing anymore, there are already announcements elsewhere, must be something else holding them back.

Insert "Cmon Sziget, do something" meme here 😀

Someone mentioned Pitbull earlier. Brace yourself he’s just been announced for the BST in July. 😳

Even two years ago, I'd have LMAO'd at the possibility, now I think he is a tremendous candidate for this edition.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds were announced at Summer Well Festival in Romania (it takes place between 7-9 August and always share names with Sziget)

In 2024 Summer Well had Keane, Royal Blood, Two Door Cinema Club and Nothing But Thieves as biggest names. None of these appeared at Sziget that year (unfortunately).

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
