They’ll do Wembley Stadium here. Mark my words.

We'll see they might do and if its the same as LP then they will do, but I was also told to mark my words that Deftones would headline Download next year.

At least the ticket prices will be cheaper than LP.

Why do you think SOAD will charge less than LP?

They were never as big as LP originally were here by any stretch in their prime, they didn't do the tours even when they liked each other that LP did. They were the very odd stadium band and Download.

To be honest referencing The Prodigy a bit for this one compared to say LB, they've priced themselves at £67, in the same ball park ar Brixton was. LB and a huge amount of others are charging £80/90 and then some for those gigs.

I think they'll get away with doing the venue but they'll max out somewhere at around £120/30 I think similar to Green Day prices when they did outdoor shows. Their golden circle was like £125/30 and they sell tickets here and will sell tickets herre way quicker than SOAD will have done. Again just to point out, SOAD are probably my favourite metal band overall, in the top two for sure so I've no reason to downplay it.....the opposite if anything.

It’s nothing to do with how big SOAD were compared to LP 20 odd years ago. It’s to do with the current climate and demand. SOAD are back and will be playing bigger shows than they ever have done before because the demand to see them has grown and grown in the almost decade since they last came over here. They can easily charge £100+ for a standing ticket to a stadium date. I hope they won’t but they will. And I will pay it.

It definitely wasn't you that stated a while back then they weren't interested unless there was new material?

To be honest, they might charge over £100 for a standing ticket but that doesn't detract from me saying I think tickets would top out at £130 max and playing their biggest shows ever doesn't mean they are going to reach the maximum that other acts how cost wise. I think you will easy get a ticket for Wembley Stadium if you want one. That doesn't mean it won't sell out but it won't be hard to.

It kinda does have something to do with it a bit, in the current climate LP will sell more tickets at higher prices than SOAD without a doubt because they are apart of a comeback 8/9 years later as well and from a much bigger band.

I reckon SOAD will likely do one of the big London stadiums, but wouldn't rule Download out as their only festival show on this run (much like Metallica in 2023).

SOAD, Iron Maiden and Linkin Park would be the kind of headliner combo that sell Download out.

Might spark some ill feeling here, and I'm not even saying I want it to happen but.. Biffy?

I can't see then going to that well again, even if the tour does well,  but how possible is it?

I would want Biffy over like 90% of prospective headliners, but I just don’t think they’ll go with them again unless the headliner well is all but dry.

They will probably only have to do festival dates in certain, Download would do well to get them and all three of those. I don't think you would be able to beat that for 3 bands for a combo for me. Blink over Maiden maybe but I do want to see Maiden again. I think they'll go for Blink, Maiden, LP myself.

No chance of Biffy, they are a dead booking for Download and this new album from their first two releases is only taking them even more down the pop angle.

If Iron Maiden aren’t the 3rd then I wouldn’t be surprised to see Deftones or  Muse as the 3rd.

From the wording that was given in that podcast, it's pretty clear Deftones aren't one of them or at least they aren't then. I'm pretty confident on Maiden and LP. LP for obvious reasons and unless Maiden are playing another big  outdoor show next year or touring differently in some way here, it would be the first time in 20 years at least they've not done the UK for at least two years while touring and off the back of the band saying they've got plenty left in them yet.

Yeah, feels too obvious for them not to book Iron Maiden tbh.

If they had played on this tour and just returning on this tour it would be different but they haven't. The 4 day dream scenario would be SOAD, Blink, Maiden and LP. But I do think they would be mad not to go for Blink if they are about for the Green Day aka option, especially as unlike kinda this year with Green Day as much, Blink for example were very connected to a lot of LP fans and in the same period more than I think Korn were and ST for sure. Korn had a completely different sound to LP who I think from my younger time anyway had a wider appealing sound to others too. I cant see me not going for a week in some way with one of those other two and Maiden/LP. If they book Ghost that would change things. I could see them booking MM on second stage as well before Ghost.

I might have said that 😂

But then I listen to their flawless, perfect discography and I can’t help but get excited to see them again. I absolutely love the two songs they brought out a few years ago too so I really hope to hear those.

They’re my favourite metal band ever and my second favourite band overall after Shikari. Mezmerize was such a pivotal album in my discovery of heavy music; I just love them. The weirdest massive band to ever exist and the most unique; so many bands cite them as an influence but it’s never in their actual sound because you can hear a band ripping off System from a mile off. It never works or sounds anywhere near as solid because System are an island unto themselves.

I’ve seen them twice; the first time at Leeds 2013 when they were absolutely on fire and one of the best festival sets I’ve ever seen. The second time was the often lambasted DL2017 headline set but tbh, I had the best time and didn’t notice anything off. It might have had something to do the 400 beers I’d drank that day but the setlist was just immense and I had a blast.

I cannot wait for them to come back over. It’ll have been almost a decade and from the footage I’ve of the South American stadium shows I’ve seen, they all seem into it and sound as good as you would hope them to sound.

My soon-to-be-wife is also a massive, massive fan and has never seen them so I’m even more excited that I’ll get to watch her having the time of her life seeing them for the first time.

GOD BLESS SYSTEM OF A DOWN.

I would say the 2 singles so far aren't exactly taking them down the pop angle. They wouldn't be out of place on anything from Puzzle onwards. Pretty standard Biffy songs if you ask me. But agree, don't think they'll be back as headliner but I guess you never know

Anyone saying Biffy are going pop haven’t listened to much pop. They’re very standard latter day Biffy songs, as you’ve said.

Biffy can and will headline Download again. They’re never going to be the first choice pick, or the ‘big’ ticket shifter, but they’re a safe bet when they need an established headliner to fall back on.

Plus, the line ups recently have leaned into a younger audience that likely grew up with Biffy. I mean in the past 2 years alone we've had QOTSA and FOB at the top. Likely to have Blink 182 in future. I don't think Biffy look out of place amongst the non metal acts that have headlined of recent. Probably a better fit atop Download than R&L nowadays

GOD BLESS SYSTEM OF A DOWN.

I saw them once 2011, not the biggest crowd either from what i remember. I've actually read and heard previously that their 2013 sub set to Green Day wasn't that great. I might have got it round the wrong way and that the headline set wasn't great. To be fair as well they would have been playing off the back on Uno! and the other two which thankfully don't get airplay now and Billy Joe wasn't in the best stage of his life

Recent Biffy is pop, they've been going pop for years.

The only established thing about them headlining at Downloadnis the amount of people that people out during or usually before they start. Based on that they are a rubbish bet and a very last resort. I like them as a band but I don't even think they fit Download with the newer booking system they are going for. They are nothing like QOTSA, ST. Green Day. FOB or doing it for their first time Korn.

NDR but just getting that out there

Yup. And far from pop as northernangel wants us to believe. Progressive, experimental, and still perfectly heavy in places. Anyway I digress
