Ah they did yes, maybe she asked for a lot more than that. Given for example what harry had at Wembley she could have a big stage that juts right out at BST and get mega money for it for 3 nights. She won't get anywhere near that for Glastonbury

Eavis got out in front of negotiations before he approached them and offered something different (the phoenix) as a sweetener. And they also made the Pyramid field much bigger in 2013. And Glasto had to sell the new sound quality setup to Jagger - RG Jones and Martin Audio.

And they had mainly dogshit on the other stages at the time.

I don't think hes/they're a big enough Madge fan to do similar for her. Nor should they.

To be honest while it might not have been said people's Cup of tea, I've actually met people since who did chose Other stage instead because that's where their interest was.

I’ve lost track, but if we’re talking The Rolling Stones year, then Public Enemy were several times better than the Stones

Its basically a case of who people like isn't it. I've no interest in Public Enemy, I like Example and C&S to a degree but I wasn't missing The Stones. Some younger folk too wouldn't really care about them. Some people I know went when they were 18 and I was 26.

There could be a chance for sure. No real chat, but it would be insane.

Pheobe Bridgers, Sam Smith and Bicep likely make that chance much less lol. He's not taking an other stage set time though.

I’m a Stones fan. I had a really difficult choice to make between them and PE. Choose the Stones, lasted about 15 minutes and then bailed (they were dreadful). Legged it to WH, thankfully as PE were brilliant

does this make madonna more likely for 28 now as the Pyramid would have a bigger footprint then ? still think as @mufcok stated they are just lowing the Madonna chat down as they dont want it being heavily discussed before ticket sale

I dunno - I thought that initially but I'm, reluctantly, edging towards not happening as it stands. Will continue to dig where I can, though.

Re 2028 - I wouldn't be confident. If this is the second time they've tried and it's gone belly up, it could be a case of just write it off.

which would make that Graham Norton interview nonsense .... although obviously things change

She was/is 100% in the mix, but I don't know specific timings and how it relates to that interview. They've clearly gone after her, again.

It could be read in a number of ways - she was in negotiations at that point, she was talking about BST (and he's interpreted it, as we have, as Glastonbury). Who knows

Funny if after this they've managed to get Oasis and nobody has a clue.

Also, dunno if it's just me but I can't see any betting odds anymore, William Hill or otherwise. Doesn't take much for that market to change, or come down, as the little Fontaines flurry showed 😅

Feel Stevie Wonder should be in the conversation as a random Michael Eavis headliner ala Neil Young last year.... If we did get a M.E pick for one of the headliner slots, who else would be in the mix do we think? Cher? Rolling Stones? Nicks/Fleetwood?

Thing is it depends on what the issues are - building a bigger stage would likely bring the Pyramid up to the relatively standard 20x20 space for "on stage" production which does make it easier for touring setups. But if for example she wants big / complex extensions going out in the field (such as she had in Rio) that would remain just as awkward to achieve without massively disrupting the rest of the day or potentially even weekend.

I think a lot of you guys don't see Tate McRae as headliner material however she was originally billed to play back in 2025 and had to pull out (https://www.billboard.com/music/music-news/glastonbury-2025-headliners-revealed-tickets-line-up-1235915362/). She sold out out all of her arena shows in 2025 and just brought in huge crowds at Oshega and Lollapalooza. Given that she's gearing up to release the second album it lines her up for a tour run in her same gap as she's usually over here over Glaso weekend. I wouldn't rule her out.

Keep in mind those crowds were full of teenagers. Glasto aint full of teenagers. Theres no way she could demand headline and get it because they got other acts to give the slot to who deserve it with a bigger catalog. Reading/Leeds would headline her cause its still LN.  If the fest was struggling its Other headline. But a 3rd down Pyramid is likely the landing spot. Itll go down like the Camila Cabello performance pretty much.
