I still wonder about KOL posting all that Glastonbury stuff on there socials last year.   If there was some contact about playing 2023 and it fell apart - perhaps they felt they were getting the headliner call up and the festival had the Other Stage in mind -  just a theory

It is fair to ponder this tbf because like you say, they did go all in with footage of their 2004 and 2008 dates down Worthy Farm way. I thought they might be doing a secret set as a consequence.

The same though is kind of in play this year but seemingly not really.

There an act with the same initials of Kings of Leon but with an umlaut on the O?

Yeah

KOL (DJ/Producer):

There's a DJ/producer named "KOL" (also known as "@theycallmekol" on Instagram) who blends deep, sexy house, techno, and breaks.

They have released 4 albums in 5 years (plus a solo album). What makes you think they will wait 3 years before they even start the 5th? I would think all available evidence suggests this is nowhere near the way they work.

Because bands need a bit of a break sometimes.

It's more the fact that Download decided to remain booking many of the same metal metal bands and heavier rock bands that wouldn't suit Green Day. I've got to go back to 2013 to find a year when Download has booked a sub and 3rd as light as in music output as the Friday this year and with Download on top of that. I think Sunday 2008 is the last time they booked a top 3 one day 'closer' to the top 3 Friday.

Saturday 2024 with Fall Out Boy, The Offspring and Enter Shikari is closer to the Friday this year (Green Day, Weezer and Jimmy Eat World) than 2013 (Rammstein, 30 Seconds to Mars and Gaslight Anthem) or 2008 (L**********s, Jimmy Eat World and Coheed and Cambria). The musical output of Shikari and L**********s is pretty varied from heavy to softer stuff in their discographies.

Nah Shikari is way heavier overall than Weezer and JEW. I think it's the lightest they've probably ever booked as a top 3 to be honest.

Agree that this year is the lightest. Was saying that I think 2024 was closer to it as a package than the other two you mentioned is all.

Radiohead coming around wouldn't be implausible - a decade between shows - but at the same time, could see them bypassing.

Imagine hopes for an arena tour of any scale would be limited. Got to go back to 2003 to find the last time they did a proper run in venues of that nature that wasn't just London and Manchester.

I'd be well over this! Paramore into Chappell would be a hell of a party!

As if the festival would pick 4 perfect acts! Don't tease us

They might, just don't not those lol. We'll have Joel and Nicks though.

I think Limp Bizkit would definitely be Pyramid stage. It would be funny though if they were around and played 3rd down Other over Download lol.

    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
    • Thanks for the suggestion, had never heard of them yesterday and have picked up a ticket today.
