Friday is so disappointing Pulp apart.  Suppose saves me holiday leave from work as will just go in at tea time and treat Friday as a Pulp gig.

While Friday is a very different sound compared to the pop of Saturday and Sunday, it's still hands and shoulders above the rest of the weekend imo. It's bringing me and a lot of pals back to the festival who have stuck to Tramlines Fringe since 2017.

Lisa O'Neill is a real treat on the Friday. Fantastic artist and not someone you'd associate as being a festival person. I fear the typical festival crowd won't appreciate her.

Just had a listen, not at all what I was expecting. She'll be fab, especially if it's a sunny afternoon.

Agreed. I will have a full day on Friday, whereas Sat/Sun are a bit pick n mix and will depend on the weather as how how much I end up staying for.

Interviews yesterday on BBC Sheffield with Jarvis and Nick, separately. Jarvis seems to imply that they approached Tramlines as they wanted to do something different than the Arena, and it was Nick's idea after enjoying playing it with the Brothers. Other snippets, both his son and nephew's bands are on the bill (after a bit of googling... Spanish Horses and Femur respectively).

Stage splits

So looks like the Library stage is now an extension of the Open Arms, unless they've got them the wrong way round 🤷‍♀️

They're indicating the app update will be soon. The Open Arms is correct - one of the acts has confirmed. I guess it kind of makes sense to have more of the music on the middle of the site, and the more peripheral stuff down near the entrance gate.

Biggest headaches for me will be Friday early evening.

Pleased they've put JCC in the tent, as better chance of actually hearing him. Early night Saturday suits me fine - will leave after Franz

They're confirming a few things not clashing in the FB comments, notably Pulp and Hot Chip, which suggests different scheduling than previous years, at least for Friday. Maybe Pulp are unopposed... I mean who would want to take that option?!

I think Pulp will do a longer set than a normal Headliner.

Each to their own but Friday will just go in for Pulp.

No major clashes.  Maybe RRC v TLDP but RRC win hands down.

It's a weird one this year.  Some really strong acts for me but think overall will watch less bands than usual.

A couple of things bothering me about the poster for Friday...

I think we're still short of an act for Friday on the Main Stage - only 6  acts vs 7 for last year and for Saturday this year, and 7 for Leadmill stage which usually alternates with Main. I could be wrong, but it feels like a Richard Hawley sized hole, and he's still flogging his Coles Corner gigs, with nothing yet announced for Sheffield.

On T'Other - the Leadmill ABBA party slot looks out of place. I wonder if it could be cover for something like a Jarvis DJ set...  even Day Fever would fit better, or the new Pete McKee Youth Club Disco that's just about to air at the Leadmill this weekend... or something else entirely!

Or, I could just be over thinking it 😂

no way they'd announce an "ABBA party" as a cover and then just nix it. They'd just have it listed as "TBA" or under a fake name (ala Mcfly the other year) if it was actually some other DJ set.

also they've done that ABBA party every year and the attendance has always been good. The Supergrass year (?) they pulled a bigger crowd than the headliners.

I'm sure it'll be on somewhere, but it's usually The Open Arms which is tiny compared to T'Other now it's in the big tent. Just seems like a massive step up and seems odd scheduling in between comedy/poetry. Maybe they've had someone pull out and it's filling a gap.

Abba party definitely seems to be A Thing. My first ever visit to Sheffield so I might not necessarily be in a hurry to get into the fest though I think Friday has a solid selection of acts especially if you treat it as a Pulp show with some bonus things.

I have read social media replies from Tramlines saying acts on the Tother Stage are not clashing with certain acts on the main on the Friday.  For instance Hot Chip not clashing with Pulp.  Usually these 2 stages clash so maybe doing things differently this year.

I suspect Pulp will also do a longer set than usual Headliners.

Friday is a glorified pulp gig so I assume they don't clash with anybody. Other stages will shut down I expect

    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
