There are so many great 'undercard' acts around this year. Trust Sziget to choose this year to go more EDM-focused! 🤣

well they are there at this festival on the 8th of August

so sziget might get them on the 6th or 10th or 11th ? I feel there a good dance / indie act

I was hearing there name before the phase 1 drop to so I still got my hopes for them to be on the undercard

Only currently seven dates while in Europe too, which seems a bit sparse. However, nothing after 18 July and first date she could play Sziget is almost three weeks later. She needs at least two or three other bookings in that time to make it worth her while staying for Sziget. What options are there?

It's actually 10. Apart from the 7 festival dates, she's also playing in Manchester twice and in Dublin. She is then rumoured for Glastonbury, Mad Cool and Lolla Berlin which would cover most important markets in Europe. She doesn't really have to come back to Europe that soon.

Billie Eilish cheaper than Mumford and Sons?

Ed Sheeran cheaper than the National?

I think it’s an unfair comparison, as much as I like the latter two, the first two is sooo much easier to marketing and will probably sell out their day, while The National’s crowd speaks for itself. But if you compare Foo Fighters or AM to Dua Lipa, Kylie or even the two above, not to speak about EDM acts like Garrix or Guetta, big bands will always have a higher fee.

You can pretty much change it to fit any argument.

Would foo fighters command a bigger fee than say Eminem or Madonna?

I have no idea, quick google resulted either something between 2.5-6million for FF and Eminem, or 500k+ for FF. Eminem and Madonna is probably pricier than FF, but the gap is much smaller I think than between Sheeran and the National. Anyways, as you said you can pick any two artist to make it like you are right, but I think one average a band costs more and also takes much more logistic to move everyone and everything that comes with a band.

I just think it's the name, rather than a band or solo.

Biggest bands in the world, will get the same as the biggest artists in pop and hip hop.

Although due to bands being pretty much waning in popularity, perhaps not commanding the big fees.

Is logistics even a criteria?

My comment was specifically related to acts in scope of what sziget would book. I don’t think Eminem or Madonna would be booked by Sziget, but Foo Fighters would be. And I assume their fee is going to be higher than a chapel roan / Charlie xcx or Post Malone.

i don’t know any figures , but this would be my assumption

Foo fighters v Charlie xcx/roan/post malone isn't a fair comparison.

It's why I chose Eminem v foo fighters, that's a more fairer comparison.

So what bands would you expect Sziget to book on the level of Charli Xcx / Chappell Roan then?

I don’t like the headliners this year but I’m intrigued to hear what would be in your opinion possible in the same scope of budget .

For me the National is a boring headliner. I remember after Macklemore in 2019 everyone left and they had barely anyone watching

That's wasn't the discussion. It was more to do that bands cost more than pop headliners which i didn't agree with.

I was watching, amazing performance by the national.

It will be interesting what mad cool has lined up later in the week. I'm amazed nick cave isn't doing festivals next summer, or doesn't look like it.

Bands Sziget could book to headline? Unsure they are out there. They will probably grab Olivia and maybe post malone. Perhaps a mid level band.

i wouldn’t mind Snow Patrol or even Chainsmokers at sziget

Snow Patrol would indeed be very nice , they are quite good musicians ! + 2-3 very big hits... yep, they can definitely take the "Editors spot" from last year 🙂

Depends what day tbh

there in Slovakia on the 8th if they play on the 10th at this festival

it leaves the 6th only for sziget ( that’s if they do 1 day breaks between sets )

but I’ll be so upset if sziget didn’t get them it be such a miss opportunity
