Yikes. What a huge fumble.

I mean, you are biased to be fair.

Got to be money, or potentially health fears - or maybe they just had those three locked in a long time and it never came into the conversation.

Sure the picture will emerge more over the coming weeks and months and years.

Im surprised Rod would get a big crowd. I could name one song and sing none. A dinosaur no one under 40 would give a hoot about. He will still get a big crowd, for some reason, but is the worst legend booking in years for me.

True.

It’s a genuinely embarrassing booking

Alanis is elder millenial catnip. As are weezer. See also avril last year and neither have ever played in the 18 years ive been going. Alanis crowd will be massive as well as unlikely to have mega clashes against her.

Agree with all of the above but esp Alanis. Would never call myself a die-hard fan but put a playlist on after the poster came out and sang along to every word. Put a Rod playlist on and was left bemused and uninspired (though, in fairness, I've only ever attempted 3 legends - Lionel, Diana & Shania - and I left Diana & Shania early). Am 37.

Perhaps because when I was a teenager he was always in the tabloids with someone on his arm who was about my age despite himself being about as old as my dad, I've always seen Rod as a cringey old duffer. I'm about as old now as he would have been then and my view of him hasn't changed.

Cannot imagine NY would have accepted the Legends Slot. Likewise SW, though that is possibly where he belongs if his shows are half-karaoke at this juncture. (An unpopular opinion, to be sure.)

Fender is the obvious miss, but don't think it is a soft trio by any stretch. You can only book what you can book, after all.

There could be any number of reasons why no stevie (other than slow to announce or confirm)

Fees

Unable / Unwilling to meet specific artist requirements

Doesnt want to be recorded

Exclusivity contract with promoter

Artist sees Glastonbury as one and done

Festival sees artist as one and done

But why would Fender have a no-Glasto clause? He's homegrown and British, plus the G is already sold out. It's not going to seriously impact his sales if so, especially given he would have been announced after most of them had been released and shifted sizable numbers.

I think they maybe passed on him themselves for one reason or another, rather than he turned it down.

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
