This forum makes hilarious reading at times. People making up full blown theories in their heads about bands being pushed from the lineup and consequences of it....bitter tastes etc. I get as excited as the next person about the festival and the lineup, but some people need to free up some brain space and just wait for the lineup release. 😅

Thank you for your kind words about how we spend our lives. 😘

Mine too. Neil not being announced with a date was weird. I would however be very open to it still being Olivia Saturday and Neil Sunday but Neil's other dates don't really make that so. I think the festival have basically shuffled things so that Michael can have his man back. Can you imagine them doing that though as the risk of Olivia saying no lol.

I think The 1975 has always been the replacement for Fred. No reason to believe currently they were ever originally in the pipeline.

Yeah I do think the day matters.

It's all a bit bonkers. If The 1975 were a replacement, and then got booted, can't have been particularly ironclad as a deal.

But I just... to me, the big pop headliner is a Saturday or Sunday night thing. Your gamble is your Friday night for me, and of the bunch, The 1975 arguably represents that gamble.

Had Dua Lipa not insisted on the Friday, think SZA should have played there last year. Then Dua Lipa on the Saturday and Coldplay to close up shop again on the Sunday.

it is 🙂

Well, thank you very much!

But yes, this is quite the fascinating few hours we have in store. My gut has been a little shaky on both The 1975 and Olivia Rodrigo, with pros and cons.

But, and I say this with the admiration for her copper-bottomed bangers, I'd rather see them both get the shot rather than Rihanna, at least of the likely contenders in the mix.

SZA shouldn't have played at all really.

There is no suggestion that The 1975 have been booted.

Hmmm, perhaps. I disagree that she shouldn't have played - if the chat was true that she was already booked to play as an Other stage headliner, then she should have definitely played.

And I think the slot didn't help on the day too. She'd have been better suited to the Friday, with everybody in the house. Both her and The National suffered from the Sunday night hangover of early departures and the aftermath of a dramatic England win.

"Booted", in this parlance, would mean removed from the line-up for one reason or another - typically to make way for another act, or for a breach of contract.

As for it being a poster with little activity, we have had drops - and accurate ones -from single-digit posters before. True or false, it offers debate to stimulate.

If Rihanna was booked to headline Glastonbury... wouldn't they want to announce her London dates before announcing her headline slot, to maximise ticket sales?

I'm surprised they'd hold off announcing the London shows just because "she doesn't want to do as many". Surely they would just announce a few dates first, then announce Glastonbury, then if there's super high demand she can decide if she wants to do more London dates.

Hardly be removed from the line up if they were asked and said yes

    • I'm 59. It's not so much the music as the camping/late night chaos I've grown out of at R+L. If I was still local to Leeds I might still be persuaded for a day ticket if the lineup was to my taste.
