2016 Adele wasn’t there yet. 2017 Sheeran wasn’t there yet.

While they might not have booked stadiums yet at that point - in both cases they were already both more than big enough that they could have instantly sold out a stadium tour including multiple nights at Wembley.

Indeed, I've got a feeling that Adele announced her Wembley run on the back of the Glastonbury performance.

Where did all the Eminem headlining rumours go? Has that been ruled out?

We're due a big self confirm or two soon now ticket sales are done

The rumour was only ever that the festival had made him an offer. Even at that point the person who brought it to us(@mufcok) said that he didn't expect the offer to be accepted.

More than fair enough. And as you say, always something else cooking elsewhere.

Of the bunch, I'd expect The 1975 to be the most divisive, but they'll still get a crowd that will look fine on the box. (Unless the opposite bookings are obscenely strong.)

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but for me The 1975 would headline the Other stage or fill the 8pm slot on the Pyramid.

Just can't see it with the size of slot they command elsewhere across the country, and the size of their tours too.

Yep, it makes sense. I also get that it's all down to perception, because they sell smaller arenas in Spain.

I know they've been after him for years and it certainly would be a real catch as he doesn't do festivals usually

Think they’d have played more recently than 2016 if they were happy to settle for Other headliners. And we know the fest sees them as headliners as well, they were supposedly booked to do it in 2021.

I may have the bloke wrong but when Reading & Leeds paid him 1.5mil last time, I don't see him taking a Glastonbury fee. I see him laughing at them like Boycie from Only Fools & Horses (and Madonna).

Whilst he's not really my bag, I'd definitely go. Think it would be a moment.

I sometimes forget they'd been tapped with AM and Elton Jon for the 2021 festival just before the pandemic torpedoed everything.

Ah, sorry, I missed your location!

Yes, that would also make complete sense from your perspective too then. I know they're nowhere near the level they are here on the continent, but I must admit I didn't know how much of a contrast it may well have been.

Honestly, if you've got The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Fender for a suitable budget, crack on. Plenty of other places to splash the cash on this bill.

Really missing a bucket list act though. I've done; The Killers, The Cure, Kendrick Lamar, Paul McCartney, Arctic Monkeys and Elton John as Pyramid headliners. Didn't bother with the Mid' at all last year. Would be a shame to have another year without a 'big' headliner.

I know we joke about them being perpetually there, but Coldplay currently being in the midst of the second biggest concert tour of all time when they stepped off this year surely qualifies as a "big" headliner.

I think I've just been spoiled with a run of The Cure, Paul McCartney and Reg. Subjectively, Coldplay not in their leagues.

Never knew that. That's really interesting as a massive AM fan.

Makes me wonder whether they would have done it as the tail end of the TBHC tour or if The Car would have been brought forward a year.

Definitely. There's bound to be a year coming, probably this year, where the names aren't at that level - well, in the eyes of many.

Given Rodrigo seems the only lock for definite at this point, I'd guess maybe announce her before Christmas. At the risk of being particularly cynical, it will allow EE to trumpet her as another female headliner who has come through the festival's lower stages, given there will be blowback to the other two headliners likely being white band blokes.

Otherwise, whole poster at once before the resale date. It still reads fantastic to me that they can leave it so close to the actual thing with these announcements.

I think sessions for The Car were going on in 2021 so maybe it wouldn't have been fully ready in time, or they'd have rushed out something else as the story is that they pivoted halfway through from doing a different sounding project to The Car.

    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
    • Blink-182 / Avril Lavigne / Good Charlotte / Neck Deep    Lamb of God / Malevolence      System Of A Down / Five Finger Death Punch / Skindred / Godsmack   Motionless In White / Poppy      Deftones / Gojira / Knocked Loose / President    Sabaton / Amon Amarth
    • This Isaac wood news has dropped right out of left field. Great to hear he feels up to doing live stuff again    what will he play? Solo stuff , old BCNR stuff?    It’s only in November , it’s a bold booking to for someone who has previously had some struggles to come back and play a load of new stuff to crowds that big
    • Wow, Blink-182 back so soon. They’re the band they’ve never booked then. Great booking if they’ve got them.    Deftones, Papa Roach, Knocked Loose   Lamb of God   Blink-182, Avril Lavigne, Good Charlotte   Megadeth   Slipknot, Gojira, Motionless In White   All Time Low
