If this is true then we should have had notification today that strikes would be happening on the day a lot of people begin their journeys.

Do we think we’re in the clear?

Wait til midnight and hope for the best!! One was announced really late recently if i remember rightly.

This is the day I'm most interested in as heading down to Castle Cary on the Tuesday!

Yes looks like we're in the clear for the Wednesday, I would have though the RMT wouldnt want rail staff to lose anymore pay in June I reckon they might wait until next month to disrupt Wimbledon or the Forumla 1.

A strike will happen.  Lots of events happen across the UK all the time.

To say that strikers are targeting any particular event is lazy and facetious.

🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

Read the impact part, to cause the most disruption is the whole purpose of strike action otherwise what's the point

You really think the strikes a few weeks ago were not targeted at the Eurovision?

They used to do weekday strikes to disrupt businesses as that pissed off the general public less while still making the point. They realised last year that that was utterly pointless as businesses have everyone set up for home-working now, so all the managers just went "yeah work at home that day and come in the following day instead". Had close to zero impact.

So now it's mostly weekend strikes targeting events. Also says a lot about them that they avoid the Coronation weekend while managing strikes either side of it.

Of course they target particular events / clusters of events. That's the whole point. Maximum disruption.

They don’t likely target any single event or type of event but they clearly target events in general to cause as much disruption as possible. What’s the point of going on strike if nobody notices?

Last year they chose the beginning of Glastonbury, this year it looks like they may choose something else.

If these strikes are going on for as many years as they say they will, it probably makes sense from a public support perspective to mix it up a bit rather than coincide with the same event each time!

Heathrow have just announced strikes for the weekend of Glastonbury. Likely to affect acts rather than the punters!

Tons of punters will fly into Heathrow

Acts will just change airports given the warning you'd think, less easier for punters

----

I reckon because of how they usually announce like a Thursday and Saturday to strike, by tomorrow we should know if we're in the clear for rail.
