Ok so don’t shoot me because I am definitely NOT in the know. But my best friend knows Ed from the Editors and she tells me yesterday that a month ago he told her they were playing Woodsies not at the same time as Elton.

If this turns out to be my first in the know that turns out to be correct then I’m going in the efestivals hall of fame.

Awesome, so at current guesses of lineup this would put them as either supporting Hotchip (Fri) or CATQ (Sat, though not 100%) - assume they wouldn't be any lower down than subbing on Woodsies?

If Editors'd headline, and the non-Elton clash bit is right, then presumably CATQ's website is right (says Sun) and his poster is wrong (says Sat)?

Hotchip went to the same school as Four Tet, who might be teaming up with Fred Again. *

* I just felt that it had been a while since we'd seen his name mentioned.

Are they really a headline / sub these days? Don't get me wrong I think they're hugely underrated but I think they've slipped away from broader appeal somewhat on their latest few albums.

No idea personally - would quite fancy seeing them so very happy if they're a bit earlier and further from clashes.  Think there's lots of 'past their best' on my radar for this year 🙂

    • No worries, it's a perfectly fair question to ask. I would expect people to be talking at the back & near the bars & that is where I would want them to be talking. If your group are enjoying yourselves & the music & briefly chatting to say how much you are loving a certain song etc, you would be an ideal group to stand behind.   My issue is with people having full blown conversations (usually unrelated what is on the stage) whilst being surrounded by people who are trying to listen to the music. This was happening in the middle and towards the front of all stages, & so you have limited options to move around & you may have spent 20 minutes waiting for the band trying to get the closest position that you can. If there's a group of 8 people, there may be 2 or 3 that like the band & the rest will start talking if the music isn't their thing. This may be the norm now for festivals, and if it is, that's ok & I will focus on a band's own gigs & UK based new music festivals.    I'm also not including consequences of my own decision making. I saw Geese on Wednesday so went to Occident after Men I Trust finished so it was understandable there would be chatting that far back. Similarly, getting to The XX after Olivia Rodrigo along with most of the site, I knew my chance of a good spot & a chat-free zone had gone so that was completely reasonable.   PS. I went to Bilbao BBK in 2023 & 2025 & enjoyed it. For Pulp & Kylie in 2025, I got a position early & was surrounded by a respectful & fun crowd for both. The UK non-headlining bands tend to go on the undercover 3rd stage, & most people like to congregate outside so you can usually get close to the front of that stage.
    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
    • Additional dates added already
    • I feel like it's not COMPLETELY beyond the realm of possibility that they could headline but I just don't see it.    They're not doing anything other than headlining. So nah, I don't see it.
    • Consider that the sound quality can be better near the front bars right behind the soundbooth rather than closer to the stage, like with mbv. And of course, the front sections are full of talkers too.   The most courteous move would be to have conversations in the very back of the field.
