I was fully prepared to miss Fred but now that it looks like he’s up against Royal Blood I’m starting to hope the other stages remain clashless so I can be there. Will be a total vibe and nice little segue in to the headliner messiness.

Dude where you getting the intel on stages from? I’m totally lost lol

So what day and slot do we think Fred is playing then?

Reliable info over on the Discord. He’s playing Friday on the Other Stage before Wizkid.

Fair enough cheers buddy. Anyone over on discord got any info on Leftfield 🙏

Just that he’s playing, but no stage or day I don’t think.

Edit; ah didn’t realise he was on the poster so you already know he’s playing haha

Not big enough I don’t think. Most likely to be in Glade one night I’d have thought.

You say that, but honestly, who is Wizkid??? I’ve not heard anyone talking  about him on here and nobody in my group had a clue who he is. Yes we are all in our 40’s and yes we all gave his music a shoot yesterday. Not our vibe. But anyway, my point, surely Leftfield has more notoriety than Wizkid 🤷‍♂️

Or am I that out of touch now lol

Granted, Wizkid has been a bit of an anomaly across the board judging from the response to him, but yeah, it’s mostly just that you’re out of touch haha. Guessing he’s very popular with the young’uns, but yeah, not my thing either. Leftfield is great but hardly relevant in todays music scene, and definitely not WH headliner level anymore.

doing tottenham's stadium after doing 2 nights at the o2

afrobeats, similar to Burna Boy who subbed other last year

can't say i'm fussed myself but he's definitely big. Glastonbury are very much on it with pushing afrobeats

Is anybody else slightly worried that Fred Again will be hampered by it not being dark for his set? His stage set up/light show surely works best in the dark?
be keen to know if anybody has seen him play a daylight slot? And if so how it went down? Absolutely buzzing for him to be so high up on a major stage, it’s fully deserved!

I’ve not seen him so not sure how much dark is required, but tbh his kind of music strikes me as very well suited for a sunset kind of setting so I’m glad that’s what he’s doing.

Yeah looking at his live sets, they appear to be relatively stripped back with what is essentially a giant phone screen behind him projecting the recordings he samples so should work fine at sunset.

He currently doesn't have much of a light set up but he has just hired the same people bicep have i heard

It will work well, think like caribou or avalanches from last year.

He did Forwards in daylight i know, someone was surely there?

Seen him quite a few times both in the day and night. I prefer it in the dark in the same way I do most gigs but he’ll be ace in a sunset slot!

I agree, and have said this from the start, he is a sun going down, chilled out, beautiful evening type of artist, not a lights up rave away type (in my opinion before I get shouted at).

imo he's good for both, but he definitely fits a sunset slot better than most other big dance acts glasto books e.g. chems, prodigy, bicep all firmly more night leaning

seen fred many times and like has been said previously, nighttime sets are just better generally i feel.

but fred will have a huge crowd who are all there to see him so imagine it being a very memorable party atmosphere. i wish he was headlining west holts (deffo big enough) but at least you kinda get 2 headliners on the friday (if one of the others are your thing). I mean there has been worse nights at glastonbury than fred again -> Arctics or whoever.

I’ve seen him twice, once in a gig and once outside at a festival in the afternoon. He was incredible in the gig and then pretty disappointing at the festival. But the sound wasn’t amazing and it was insanely busy/crowd were a bit rubbish. I’m sure he’d turn it on for Glasto though

Hi Thread Again people. Can somewhere recommend where to start with Fred Again's music? Particularly along the lines of what his show at Glasto will consist of?

Here's his set from All Points East last summer...

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
    • Any of the likes of Keo, Basht. and Cardinals could all fit in here.  Although they’re the sort of bands that could fit many of the stages at Glastonbury
    • Glasto loves a come back act - how about the Rapture?
    • Yeah mentioned in the park thread but feel more Woodsies to me
