Like it, are we meant to believe it’s real?

Wolf Alice have nothing announced whatsoever and not suggesting they’ll be doing anything next year. Idles deffo arent playing. Otherwise a decent effort

I mean it’s definitely not real but I’m pretty sure it’s confirmed that wolf Alice are releasing new music

I mean, I haven't seen any pics of them being in the studio.

You'd think they would tbf given Blue Weekend was a few years ago now but I thought there might be a more tangible announcement by now. Or at least a date here/there.

Lurking on their Reddit, those who follow the WA cause think new music is coming in 2024 and indeed have clocked it will be their first with a new label (they've jumped ship from Dirty Hit and are now with Sony).

Nearest we've got is that Ellie did guest vocals for a song by a band called Thy Slaughter.

I guarantee that Thy Slaughter sound nothing like how I am imagining going off their name alone 😂

They sound a bit more like you’d imagine them to sound than Skullcrusher does

Fontaines DC playing a festival in Turkey 20th August. Surely a shoe in for reading

I could see them doing the superstruct fests instead tbh

I've only ever seen you use this word

For those not aware, they’re basically a Live Nation competitor promoting festivals. They have ave a global footprint which in the U.K.

Victorious

Y-not

Tramlines

Boardmasters

Truck

Kendall Calling

Basically if a band is doing those festivals, it’s highly unlikely they’ll also play Reading/ competing geographic markets in the same year

Is this because you think those fests attract audiences that are more suited to less mainstream artists? Or just that smaller bands doing the rounds prefer to sign with superstruct as they get to play more shows (guess a band like Fontaines can easily tick off 3 or 4 of those smaller festivals)? genuine question, as I've always assumed bands would much rather play R/L given the chance

Assume it just comes down to cash.

Is one promoter willing to pay you more than the other… Its probably worth Superstruct paying more to X band to play 3/4 bigger slots across the country than it is for Live Nation to pay X band to play a smaller slot at Reading

Ultimately it’s the proliferation of festivals and competition which has killed overall lineup quality across festivals.

Normally competition is good for the final consumer, in this case it’s only really good for the bands.

We’re left with diluted lineups quality wise and ultimately in Reading’s case in quality and quantity

Often they alternate back and forth to be honest - reading 2022, truck 23, reading 24 etc (not exactly but general jist)

Also at the smaller ones - well truck anyway, they'd get to headline which kind of builds them up to bigger headline slots in the future

probably more cash for doing 5 shows than 2 bigger ones too i think (but more effort)

I'd expect Truck etc would be very keen to get Fontaines - they would be a perfect headliner for them, new and popular doing fairly big shows - but probably not too expensive yet

Hey all, big time reader but never post. Went to a Vaccines gig tonight and asked them if they’ll play Reading this year. Justin the lead singer was tight lipped and said they’re still in discussions. I said back ‘so there’s a good chance?’ And he just smiled. I know most don’t even care but hey I’m 42 and would love to see them there. Great line up so far but would love to see more indie bands lower in the bill.

They've definitely been in the studio, no idea when it's coming and I'd bet more likely that they release it this year with tour dates leading to a big festival run next year. That's just my guess tho

Why? Nobody cares about them anymore do they!?

They aren't 8th down small - this has Frank Carter for example above them!
