While I’m talking to myself… haha. Gonna also predict a second Stormzy show will be announced if it sells out

If you saying if, you think it may not sell out. Therefore seems unlikely a second one would be announced if sell out is not a certainty.

I don't see a second date myself, he's never been a huge seller, that would be 90k

It’s not about whether it sells out, it’ll be about demand and how quickly the tickets sell.
I wonder if they might follow the BST model. He’s arguably a bigger and more ‘relevant’ headliner than anyone else they had booked and could probably have done Hyde Park. Recent Glastonbury headliner is a big deal for APE in that sense.

Realistically, conditional second shows are more likely for permanent venues where they can briefly hold the venue and release it if the show doesn't materialise than for something like APE.

With the APE dates being limited and semi-fixed, they need to have a bit more certainty in their planning - so if there's to be a second show, then it'll already need be pretty much locked in well before the first one is even announced. They won't want to create a situation where they risk not running one of their days, and it'd be too troublesome to put together alternative/standby headliners or even whole lineups with different possibilities based on whether that second show get activated.

My understanding is that is exactly what APE have decided this year. The source was the same for Pink at BST, so I have reason to believe it.

Fair enough - so what happens if the second show doesn't get triggered? Have they got a "reserve" lineup ready to go, or are they going to be scrambling for something last minute?

Feels like a risk if they're not confident.

I don't see it being much of a risk as its his only uk shows of the year on the back of a new album

Does Stomzy normally shift loads of tickets to really be able to sell out 2 dates? I remember when he headlined Glastonbury thinking that was a huge step up for him. While recognising what a signicant event him headling was, I also thought that if he could headline that year, so could have George Ezra. Was he realy shifting more concert tickets and records then George Ezra then or even now? Does he usually do multiple arena dates or put on big park gigs?

I guess we will find out next year. I guess 2 days headlined by Stormzy with different support each day could attract double bookings for those who like that style of music.

He's solidly arena level now and did three nights at the O2 earlier this year, so yeah he does shift tickets particularly in London.

An additional night might be a stretch but as we saw from last year I don't think APE are hugely bothered about constant sell-outs anymore and have probably figured out their maths by now, but it'll definitely sell well with a decent support bill or a couple of exclusives. They'll definitely be stepping on Wireless' toes with that undercard though, which will be interesting to see.

interesting

If you read the context of the forum back, I’ve been saying for a while that I believe APE will only be four shows until they can gauge sales.

The Stormzy second show idea is speculation on my part, but would make sense with the other info I have.

Thanks, sounds like he does the numbers to justify the booking. I just wish his date was the following weekend when i am away at Victorious. Really hoping he does not do a second night the same weekend.

I just wish APE would hurry up and announce the additional gig or gigs for the Stromzy weekend.

Arcade Fire seem like a shout for this now. So does FATM.

For sure, could see both or at least one turning up.

Arcade Fire were one of my favourites but I just don't think I could see them again given Win's behaviour and lack of compassion.

    • Same here, when the lineup dropped it looked very strong but this year I’m considering more whether I buy tickets for enjoyment or fomo.   Speaking of that dilemma, I caved and bought a Turnstile Piece Hall ticket so I’ll see you there 😂
