I have a feeling she'd change it up for the festival. This concept is great for fans and that's exactly who are going to her headline shows. A festival is different and I'm sure there will be alterations.

Or....she just won't do festivals this time around.

What makes this setlist unusable at a festival? Outside of some older track's the majority of these tracks come from number 1 UK albums of the past 5 years.

I'm talking about the performance more than the setlist. Dressing up as a each Era and so on.

Although a 5 song chunk from Lover would be an odd way to open on the Pyramid.

Right that makes more sense. It'd be extremely different to bring this exact show to the pyramid. Way too many props, stage movement and it all going with choreography. Would have to do a complete different show. Makes sense why Emily said 4-5 years. Might just not be possible on this tour and they spoke about that.

I’m guessing she’s got this big stadium tour and then maybe a bespoke shorter Festival thing she can take around the world at some point in the next 4-5 years.

Open with Ready For It, cut Miss Americana totally, play the short version of All Too Well. That’s ten plus minutes saved already, even before you’ve chopped out a hefty chunk of the Folklore/Evermore/Midnights sections. Wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to get the whole show down to two and a half hours. Suspect she might end up doing that for her own shows down the line anyway depending on how her voice and energy levels hold up.

It's not a timing issue. Each 'era' has a different stage layout. Loads of moving parts and massive props that go along with the show. Costume change between each 'era'.

The show would have to change drastically for it to work. Taylor choreographing a whole new show while still on your. And a complete different stage design is not happening in the next 2-3 years.

I hear your valid reasoning but she’s done simplified shows for festivals before so it’s not completely impossible. I’m sure they could make it work if both the fest and Taylor’s team wanted it to, and there’s plenty indicating the former does at least.

What festival has she done a full 2 hour show at mid tour? Genuinely not seen this.

My point still goes to Emily saying ' hopefully in the next 4-5 year's '

My guess is after 24' they'll be a fallow year and then Taylor for 26. And even that Is only 3 years.

Yup.

Billie was able to do festivals mid-tour as her show was flexible enough to adapt to other stages and settings.

Same can't be said for Eras, unfortunately.

She could always do a scaled down version for festivals, but yeah I’m leaning towards her sticking with her own shows throughout next year and then possibly festivals later, but also wouldn’t be at all surprised if she doesn’t bother at this point, or at least not for a while.

So that leaves us with the question on who is our other female headliner, assuming Dua is pretty much a lock. Will Madonna’s greatest hits tour be a scalable down type thing or is she gonna be out of the running as soon as we see her first show too?

They decided 2022 was the first of a new five year sequence after two “forced fallow years” so Glasto will be around until 2026 then come back in 2028. I took Emily’s comment to mean they hope to book her before the festival takes another break.

No act alive rinses their fan base for every dollar they’ve got quite like TayTay, so my expectation is she’ll milk the living bejesus out of this all over the world, then turn her attention to festivals. Her sets at festivals won’t be anything like the big production she’s currently touring. They’ll be a simple greatest hits for a couple of hours. All just speculation, of course.

It's in arenas rather than stadiums, so already more likely.

Here’s hoping she’s actually in the mix and the second female headliner Emily was talking about wasn’t just blind hope that Taylor would sign up again.

The way the Guardian article was written, talk of one of the headliners pulling out this year seemed to be a different part of the conversation to one who's close to signing for next year. I'd have thought Taylor's people said 'she'd love to play, but not until further notice'.

If they've managed to bag Madonna doing a greatest hits set it's a staggering coup and I'll doff my cap.

Yeah, I’d totally written it off as a possibility but really starting to come around to the idea that it might be a goer, or at the very least that Emily + co are trying very hard to bag her; whether they manage to pull it off is another thing entirely.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
