Not really deep cuts. It was a 20 year anniversary tour of an album so everyone knew what to expect.

Friday and Monday saw me finish up the year with a gig tally of a respectable 30 gigs. 
 

Black Grape at Chalk in Brighton was a great nostalgia trip and good to finally hear some classic 90s songs live. Shaun and Carl were in good form. 
 

Babyshambles at Koko on Monday felt like heading back to Camden 20 years ago, lively crowd with 40 year olds who should have known better! Enjoyed Monday more than their Brixton show last month, was more chaotic and raw.

 

It’s been a fantastic year for gigs. It’s been nice to see bands / artists of old and new and tick off a few bucket list Bands. Vast majority I’ve been too I’ve really enjoyed. Here’s to 2026!

Richard Hawley at Sheffield City Hall last night. Coles Corner 20th anniversary - album in full, plus loads more - 22 songs in total, over 2 hours 15 mins. I wasn't sure about it being seated to begin with, but actually really enjoyed properly seeing the band play for the first time. They are great musicians, and complemented with a string quartet for this tour. Loved the show, lots of stories in between songs, and apparently they were filming it for a live album. The Ocean, Sky's Edge and Us There a Pill sounded epic in a concert hall with great acoustics. A couple of acoustic numbers with Richard playing with minimal accompaniment were also highlights.

 

Andrew Cushin was in the support slot, with a short acoustic set. Talented young chap in a classic indie singer-songwriter mould. Might look him up again at festivals.

Final gig of the year - BRMC at the Troxy, London. A bit of a mixed bag. Enjoyed it but the lighting was a bit weird - or as my cousin described it - suitable for a graveyard at Halloween 😂 so dark and atmospheric that you couldn’t see the band hardly. As it was their last gig they went way past the curfew so got 2hrs 20mins in total!

They played Windows!! What the hell. My missus will be gutted it's her fave song.

Doves on Saturday at Manchester Apollo to end my gig year. Excellent gig, amazing sound, visuals and setlist. I'm glad to get to hear these songs live again despite Jimi being unable to tour

Loving their music. Was tempted by Manchester but didn't go, kind of regretting it now.

 

I saw The Cribs in Liverpool last night at Rough Trade. Few new ones and some rare old ones in a tiny venue. They were excellent as always

Where are you seeing them? I don't have tickets yet but live round the corner from Albert Hall in Manchester so will use Twickets for that, and I want to go to the Leeds gig anyway, just trying to convince people to go with me!

Sheffield and Leeds - Crash had a ridiculously good pre-sale for Leeds if you bought the album - ended up cheaper for the 2 together than the GA. Sheffield is Foundry, not my fave venue, but it will be a great night I'm sure. Last couple of times I've seen them they've been on really good form, especially the Live at Leeds one in 2024.

Hi all, sorry for the long post.

 

I’m to Co-Op Live arena tomorrow in the Standing section to see Biffy Clyro and just had a few questions if anyone had any insight. I've been to lots of arenas over the years but it will be my first time at the Co-op live.

 

• Firstly, is it easy to get in and out of the Standing section?

Me and my group are keen to get in the front third of the venue but will need to go to the bar/toilets multiple times during the night. 02 In London is great for this as it has aisles down the side where people cannot stand, making it very easy to get in and out. Does this venue have the same? Or will it just depend on how dense the crowds are at these points?

 

• Secondly, how are the toilet and bar queues? And roughly where are these located?

 

• Finally, has anyone had any experience with the lockers?

We're quite keen to store coats in these. Cloakrooms usually take a very long time but these sound like a good solution.

Would much appreciate if anyone has any answers to the questions above to help me manage expectations for my experience.

What's the deal with Brixton Academy sections? Got standing tickets for Underworld labeled as "stalls standing" and I am trying to get a last one from a seller and they say it is a standing ticket although its name in Ticketmaster reads as "Sec STALLS, Row GA3, Seat 111". Is there a seated section in stalls? Is it really another General Admision ticket like the other two? And if so, why does it say Seat? It really is bugging me off...
