I’m sure most of the socialist campaign group would be open to work with him but the concessions would have to be hefty. Possibly even a reinstatement of the absolute boy himself.

I don’t think Starmer’s position is tenable anymore. He should resign.

So Worthing Council results are still being counted but West Sussex County Council have come in and whilst it’s a CON hold Worthing has elected 5 Labour Councillors to County Council for the first time ever. Really good return for an area that is Tory heartland.

Yes. Those voters who say they won’t vote Labour if Corbyn is an MP are not really there to be won anyway. They also say the same about Burgon and Diane Abbott. Its just a tool to try to affect change in a party they detest anyway. Embarrassing that Starmer dances to their tune and lets enemies of the left determine Labour party policy.

You’re right, he won’t resign. But whatever. I actually hope he does go all in right wing. Heck, he should even add Blair alongside Mandelson as his advisor. Then when he gets less than 20% of the vote in England, it’ll be settled - people don’t want Blairism and these parasites can be fucked off once and for all

Not sure how having these mayoral elections and local elections on same day is helping parties win in some councils...

They turnout to vote Burnham, who has a strong personal vote, so folk who would’ve stayed home out of a lack of enthusiasm for Starmer’s shit labour instead turnout, whilst they’re at the voting booth they also vote Labour in the locals.

yes...ok...and as I said same could be said for voters in Hartlepool going out to vote for Houchon and putting a cross in tory mp box and tory council box at same time....whereas labour voters stayed at home.

Nah, Hartlepool had a commons election. Its a much bigger deal than either local or Metro mayor.

You could probs make that argument for local elections in the tees valley region but I’d guess that Burnham has a stronger personal vote. I know I’m not from Teesside but I’ve never heard of that fella.

just wonder if they had declined to have byelection on same day as mayoral/council elections would have been as bad for labour.

I guess we'll never know.
