UK does need to do a deal with France about these boats. Maybe share the intake of asylum seekers or something. Maybe treat these people humanely, like desperate people looking for a safe home, not just like some sort of threat, a burden, an inconvenience. And this goes for the French as much as us. Apparently Macron was going to offer some deal but got pissed off with Truss' friend or foe thing.

It starts putting pressure on ahead of Truss caving in the Spring is my thought. Plus it keeps it in the public’s mind with Labour calling for an election all the time.

They could blame last govt.

Precisely.

There’s an absolute shitshow coming and the Tories don’t want it to happen while they’re in charge. If they get Labour in then can blame it all on them.

Spring is the time for an election and hopefully the Tories will cease to exist after it.

all very well to blame energy crisis on Russia and covid etc., but it was the sudden load of unfunded tax rises and lack of evidence that this will lead to growth that screwed everything up.

    • I really like the Cheap Thrills! I saw them at the Ruby Lounge in Manchester in January at one of Chris Hawkins' "Awesome Friends" nights (which i think is why I even got tickets as it wasn't listed as a Cheap Thrills show!). Very good live and some great songs. I would've gone Saturday if I'd planned ahead!
    • They also seem to be in a mission to break the US with their new major label and this latest LP   Mid afternoon, live streamed on Disney+ is arguably a much bigger gig than Kendal Calling, if they had to skip one
